reblog and tell me which star trek ship you are obsessed with and which one you hate more than anything

You’re my favourite your answer is valid

THE DEFIANT. I *still* remember the arrogantly, aggressively, abysmally STUPID claim, when it was introduced, that this prototype warship was rejected because it was “overpowered and overgunned.”

That is the most idiotic thing ever said in Star Trek. A ship which uses a) energy shields for defense (which have to be powered by the ship’s POWER PLANT) and b) energy weapons for offense (which have to be powered by the ship’s POWER PLANT) and c) an invisibility cloak (which has to be powered by the ship’s POWER PLANT) CANNOT be “overpowered” given the demands that will be made on its power plant. It also cannot be “over gunned” if it has more than enough power to fire all those guns. Such a ship could easily be UNDERPOWERED or UNDERGUNNED–but OVER? It is to laugh.

No, instead of turning out scores or hundreds of relatively small, fast, agile warships like Defiant, Star Fleet would rather send a dozen enormous, bloated research vessels where the non-combatants (including spouses and children) outnumber the CREW into battle. That would be like the USA having the families of our Naval personnel living aboard the carriers and frigates and destroyers, and riding into battle with them.

And don’t give me any bullshit about the Enterprise and its peers not being “warships.” These vessels were the LYNCHPIN of Star Fleet’s battle plans when/if war happened. That’s why the Borg specifically grabbed Picard–he had knowledge of the fleet’s plan based on HIS ROLE AS COMMANDER OF THE FLAGSHIP OF THE FLEET.

Hi, I’ve come today to voice my semi-annual complaint that Hunchback of Notre Dame never made it to Broadway. It’s beautiful and deserves love. 10/10 would recommend. A+ musical.

Today’s the 6th of January which means it’s topsy turvy day, so I figured today would be a good day to once again voice my semi-annual complaint.
