Love Hurts

Part 1 / Part 2.

N/A: OMG, who would have thought that I would go back to writing and posting something here after years? If you are still here, congratulations, you are a warrior. Honestly I’ve been through a lot of bad times in the last few years and writing (which was my escape route) wasn’t enough anymore and that’s why I disappeared for so long. But I’m in therapy right now and trying to get back to my old hobbies. I lost a few followers in that time (which is understandable) and I don’t even know if people still read this kind of fanfic (with the reader inserted), I don’t even know how far this is going to go but hey! If I make one person happy with it, then I’m happy. Enjooy it and I’m sorry for the bad quality of writing (long time without writing).

“You look like trash” a voice cut through your painful moment of reflection in your bedroom. You looked up for a few seconds to see Natasha standing in the doorway.

“Excuse me, I’m taking a moment to release the tears I’ve held in for a week.” You threw up one hand and crumpled a pillow against your face with the other. You didn’t hear Natasha’s footsteps (she moved like a feather, frankly) but you felt her sitting on the edge of the bed and removing the pillow of your face

“I would like to give you some advice on broken hearts but I don’t have any”.

You snorted.

“Of course you don’t, you’re incapable of love” you teased her and the answer came in the form of Natasha choking you in a leg lock on the bed.

You gave her three pats on the arm giving up and the redhead let you go.

“You’re mean” a pout escaped your lips as Natasha smiled.

“What happened? Did you wait for Wanda to go on a mission to suffer in silence?”

“Yeah, I didn’t want to get away from her. She’s still my friend, she could tell when I’m not feeling well. Just my luck she went on a mission… alone… with Vision” you groaned again, rolling over on the bed, burying your face in the mattress.

"Weren’t you the one who kept muttering through the halls that you were going to get over it?” Natasha raised an eyebrow at you and you pushed her off the bed.

“And I will! It takes time, you cold Russian! It doesn’t help that I spend so much time with her”

Natasha again turned the tables on you, now sitting on your weeping ass on the bed.

“You can always order a few days at the Shield base. Daisy misses you” you moaned again. For someone with such light movements, Natasha was heavy.

“I can’t just run away. As I said, Wanda is my friend.”

"She’ll understand” Natasha shrugged, amused to see you trying to get out from under her.

“I don’t like to solve my problems by running away from them” you found a soft spot in the Russian, tickling her.

Natasha was caught off guard and rolled off you, nearly falling off the bed. You smiled victoriously.

“Well, who knows. She’ll be back in a day or two. I would try to fix your face” your pout returned, as you threw the pillow at her.

“Just because you’re beautiful and wonderful all the time, doesn’t mean all the lowly mortals like us are.”

You just heard her laugh as she left the room.

You stared at the ceiling and sighed. Wanda would be back. She had started dating Vision. Bumping into the couple at the avengers compound the whole time was harrowing and painful but you would get over it.

You always get over it.

So ok, maybe it wasn’t that simple to get over like that. Wanda and Vision came back from the mission closer and more ‘in love’ than ever and it didn’t help that you were Wanda’s #1 confidant, so of course she reached out to you to tell you all about it. About how they did on their mission and how they used the remaining time to see some sights and eat at fancy and expensive restaurants.

Your head was spinning from 'Vision was this and Vision was that’ so much, it was almost as if he had reverted back to being a computer system again and hacked into your brain.

It was making you nauseous.

So ok, maybe Natasha was right.

Maybe you needed time away from Wanda and reset some thoughts and lock some feelings into others.

So a week after the new couple returned from the compound, you called Daisy and asked her to find something for you. Something that looked believable, a direct request from Coulson and not an excuse you needed to get out of there quickly.

“Wait, when did that happen?” Wanda asked sitting on your bed, hugging a pillow. She was wearing your sweatshirt but you pretended not to notice.

“Coulson called Fury who called Natasha, who came to kick my ass saying they need me at the playground” you commented casually as you packed your suitcase. Wanda pouted a little.

“Do you really have to go?” she lay down on the bed, giving you a lost puppy look.

You closed your suitcase, feeling the blood rushing through your veins and adrenaline so high just at the mere sight of her in your bed.

And that just made you more sure you needed to go.

“Yeah, you know, I’m one of a kind” you joked as you sat down next to her. “And you still have Vision” you were so proud of yourself just saying his name with no disgust in your tone.

“It’s not the same” Wanda muttered “You’re my friend, I’ll miss you”.

You know. You would miss her too.

“I’ll be back before you know it” you got up and pushed your suitcase towards the door, a jet was already waiting for you at the helipad. “And who knows, I might get a girlfriend so we can go on double dates and stuff” you commented, just to see if it would get any reaction out of her but Wanda just threw the pillow on you holding an amused smile.

And okay, it hurt like hell. She gave you a tight hug and you held her for as long as you were allowed until Natasha appeared at the door beckoning you to go.

“I will keep in touch”

“You better do”
