• • •   Hello, I am Kim Yoohyeon. (`she is obviously comfortable in front of the camera as result of having run not only one, but two youtube channels for some time already. after concluding her identity she bob her head towards the camera with an endearing smile resting on peach glossed lips.) I graduated from Hanlim Multi Arts this spring, but am still working hard. (`she doesn’t mention what she is working on, it’s a mouthful to voice.) Please look at me kindly, and favourably as I do my best.

• • •   Ah, my ambitions? (`she breathes out a soundless chuckle, lips curling at the corners to provide a bigger smile. should yoohyeon be honest, she thinks this bit is a little embarrassing– her cheeks flush in a soft pink before she eventually speak up, because she isn’t prone to bring her own talents to the table. truthfully, yoohyeon doesn’t like to brag.) I really love to sing, but what I love even more is to help others. I would hope that I can combine those together, and provide joy and happiness to others with my voice.

• • •   this was easy - i mean, it was his [job] to be charming. how was this much different? so when he’s prompted to speak, he looks straight in the camera, evoking confidence as he waves to the camera. “hello there, i’m ko shinwon - let’s get to know each other better?” the way he says the phrase implies he has no nerves, but still…there’s a tinge of uncertainty. eyes a little heavy, knees a little wobbly, ko shinwon is the [epitome] of a man who’s bark is louder than his bite. but if he wanted to get anywhere, he’d have to be the person he wished he could be. shinwon, the shameless casanova. so straightening his shoulders, he shakes the thoughts off and recites the [fifteenth] take of the same cheesy intro. “i’m a waiter, living in seoul and on the path to making my true dreams come true. i’m kind of….living the life!” if only it was that easy, ko shinwon. if only.

• • •   what were they asking here…? he really didn’t know. long-term? short-term? career-oriented? personal? the realist in him is inclined to say “be anything but in the situation i’m in”, but he’s not quite sure that’s the answer they’re looking for. instead, he conjures up an answer he thinks they [want] to hear, and clasps his hands together as it comes to him. “i want to be a game changer. a lot of people have come and said they want to be famous, right? but that’’s too easy - i’m better than that.” really, fame was such a faraway goal he’d be lucky if he ever came [close], but the cocky version of him that shows up on screen forgets about all that. “think of all the greats - michael jackson, madonna, prince. did any of those people sound like something you’d heard before?” the question must be rhetorical, because he’s already implied an answer within a few seconds. “exactly - they got big because they got [different]. when i make it on the radio? you’re not gonna think i sound like anyone you’ve heard before - no, you’ll hear me and say…[that’s] ko shinwon right there.”

• • •   { ` * listening to instructions that had been given previously, a bright smile flickers slowly across her features when given the cue to begin. } hello! my name is jeon somi, and i’m currently 18 years old internationally. { ` *  understanding that the company will keep her introduction on file prompts her to enunciate clearly, shoulders back and head held high. a beat of silence is granted to prevent the natural urge to ramble incoherently, and she speaks animatedly. } i’m attending hanlim multi arts school as a practical music and vocal major, but this will be my final year. it’s a little bit scary and i’m not entirely sure what my next step will be, but my focus is definitely on improving my current skills and learning new things!

• • •   my ultimate goal is to become an idol singer like my own idols. { ` * a trite answer, but the undeniable truth. she hopes her sincerity radiates in her words, punctuating her desperation to achieve her dreams with exaggerated cheer. } when i learned the definition of ‘idol’, it interested me. i’m a fan and that was enough for a long time, but i think it would be a disservice to the ones who inspired me if i didn’t even try to pursue something more. { ` * careful thought is given to her words, not wanting any room for any doubt as to the depths of her determination. supporting her idols wouldn’t be her single defining trait; she wanted to shine just the same way. } one day, i hope to encourage others in the same way, because i think it’s important to set an example and show someone that might be similar to me that they can also do anything they have their heart set on, as long as they work hard for it. { ` * a sheepish smile successfully cuts through the seriousness of the moment and she adds humorously. } i also want to meet kt lee. she’s super talented!

• • •   ‘lo [ — his voice is gravelly, as if he’s just woken up from a deep slumber. which, judging from his bedhead, he has ] you can call me lim sejun. i used to have a stage name a while back, but [ — he laughs, scratching his cheek ] i think it sounds pretty dumb now, so i’ll spare you [ — running his hand through his hair, he pauses and focuses on something off-screen before turning back with a deep grin that shows off his dimple ] anyway, nice to meet you guys, and i hope you’ll keep an eye on me in the future!

• • •   [ — his expression doesn’t waver, but the edges of his smile are tight. he’s done too many of these to sound as desperate and sincere as some of the fresh-faced newbies, but that doesn’t mean he’s less hungry ] i want the stage [ — his eyes are steady, resolute ] i want to perform for people. i want fans to look at me and think, shit! he’s good! [ — he pauses and rubs the corner of his mouth ] am i allowed to curse? no? well, i did it anyway [ — chuckling, he continues ] i think everyone deserves a second chance to follow their dreams, yeah? [ — why not him? ] that’s all i want, in the end. just one more shot.

• • •   ( — he’s staring, dully, at the camera. it takes a few seconds before he realizes he’s missed his cue. ) oh shoot—uh, hi. i’m jung subin. i’m twenty-years-old and from the wonderful city of daegu. ( — for added flair, he wiggles his fingers dramatically. there’s a small smile on his lips and it grows into a wider grin. ) phew, i hope that wasn’t too weird. but i’m subin. i always talk about daegu, but the truth is i moved up to the seoul area when i was three, so it doesn’t really count, right? ( — he lets out a long sigh, the end of it tapering into a faint laugh. ) hm… what’s interesting about me? i’m the youngest, i ride a motorbike every day of the week, and my parents make the best jjajangmyeon in town? ( — it’s clear then that he’s been treating the introduction quite lightheartedly up until this point. ) up until recently, i thought it was kind of hard to feel really excited about anything at all. but i decided i like to dance and it’s been a while since i felt pumped about something, so i thought i’d run with it.
