Prompt: The soulmate Equation; book by Christina Lauren

When Sasuke had pulled several kit boxes from the future Kanetsugu’s instant reaction had been to draw his sword. After all, it contained all these weird items inside with even weirder questions that were oddly personal and a bit invasive. Too quirky to be a torture weapon. Too dreadful to be an effective intel method. It had all confused the man quite so, but never withheld him from protecting his lord, Kenshin, as Kanetsugu offered himself as a guinea pig.

Sasuke had frowned and hummed and he had turned and turned. As if something wasn’t quite right, but it couldn’t be wrong either. Whatever the case, Sasuke was reluctant to continue his demonstration until Kenshin pulled a sword for wasting time.

“It appears that lord Kanetsugu is…” and here that square eyed ninja stalled once more, pushing up his glasses as he fiddled around before sighing deeply when the result wouldn’t change.

“I have found his soulmate.”

Those dreadful words weren’t well received by the man himself who had nearly pulled a sword himself, a snarl on his face as Kanetsugu dared Sasuke to repeat that again.

“All this for a farce?” he had called, a bitter tone in his voice before he left the room, the smooth voice of Shingen following that told Kanetsugu to accept fate’s gift before proceeding to ask for his own Soulmate Kit.

What Kanetsugu had misunderstood was that Sasuke actually knew who his soulmate was, rather than suggesting that there was one. And that made a whole difference in the story as the vassal found himself hurled into a story he had never wanted to be part of.

“Pardon?” Kanetsugu’s voice rang cold through the air as he met the smiling faces of the lords in the front. All smiling, with an exception of Kenshin who looked like he could murder at any moment and had only been coaxed to sit down because he was promised a good sparring later on.

“According to Sasuke’s research you and that treasure of Oda are a perfect match. Hence, a marriage has been proposed.”

Yoshimoto’s explanation was met with two growls. One from Kenshin who hissed at the very thought of allying with the Oda and the other from Kanetsugu, who couldn’t believe that this was being proposed at all, or that Sasuke’s kit was the very foundation of it.

“And before you say no, they already agreed,” came Shingen’s wry counter, dispelling any room for argument from Kanetsugu’s side when he eyed his lord only to confirm such.

And thus, through a weird twist in fate, Kanetsugu found himself suddenly bound to you, in an inexplicable way that he couldn’t explain.

The attraction wasn’t instant.

Kanetsugu had found you beautiful, there was no mistake in that. He felt himself ambivalent of you, ultimately, however, not interested neither uninterested, but mostly because of this supposed perfect match you two made.

“I’m just here to fulfil my duties,” he had told you, and you had responded almost in kind. It wasn’t anything refreshing, nor new, or strange.

Yet, there was a shift the more he found himself in your presence. In the beliefs you carried, and the beauty you saw where he couldn’t see them.

“The trees are beautiful as well, if you allow yourself to see them,” you had teased him, and Kanetsugu had clicked his tongue that night before he found you fast asleep in the partition, your head balancing on the table.

That comfort and trust within him, who believed himself to be so undeserving. The blind acceptance of him as a person who lacked virtue and luck.

Perhaps, Kanetsugu found himself believing, perhaps all of his luck had channeled itself into you in front of him. For soon the man found himself helpless at your mercy.

“Tea, husband?” you had offered him a cup teasingly, recognising another one of his moods as you gently coaxed him into calmer waters.

It took him everything not to take your hand in his instead.

“Everything alright?” You asked when the two of you found yourself admiring the moon. The streets were filled, the people were at ease, and you were glowering under the reflection of the full moon.

Kanetsugu retracted his fingers that were about to caress your cheek. This undeniable attraction he couldn’t act up on. The reflection of the fireworks in your eyes, the dash of heat on your cheek that he could feel radiating to the tips of his fingers.

And the tip of your nose coming closer, lips pressing against him to steal a breath and several seconds of his life as Kanetsugu still contemplates.

He soon doesn’t have to anymore as he feels his boundaries shatter with a single kiss from you.

Morning

MC

“Good morning Kanetsugu-san”

Kanetsugu’s voice

“Morning”

His voice was somewhat groggy, and he suddenly appeared from behind the shoji screen.

Kanetsugu

“Don’t stare at me without permission, you pervert.”

Kanetsugu had a disheveled look to him.

MC

(This is the first time I’ve seen him like this.)

“Were you not able to sleep last night?”

Kanetsugu

“You are mistaken…”

Kanetsugu looks like he had been defeated in battle.

MC

“Um..but you don’t look so well.”

(I wonder if he couldn’t sleep last night…)

I had a feeling that he was having a nightmare last night, but I felt asleep too quickly to do anything about it.

(I should of kept a better eye on him.)

I started to feel regret about staying up so late with the light on.

Kanetsugu

“…Hey”

Kanetsugu slowly stood up and stabbed my eyebrows with his fingertips.

MC

“Ugh”

Kanetsugu

“You staying up late didn’t affect my sleep last night.”

“Rather, it was all the effort I had to do to put you to bed last night.”

MC

(Even though I know he is being sarcastic, I’m not angry.)

(I know that in his own way, he doesn’t want me to worry about him)

MC

“But, If I wasn’t awake last night you might of been able to sleep.”

“You should relax. How about I give you a massage?”

Kanetusgu

“Ma-zage?”

MC

“Umm, how do I explain it.”

“It’s when your face, feet, and hands get rubbed.”

Kanetsugu

“Huh?”

When I finished explaining, he took a step back at the speed of light.

MC

“Huh..”

Kanetsugu

“You..want to touch my body.”

MC

“Yes..”

Kanetsugu

“I refuse to receive this "mazage” from you.“

MC

"Uh…”

(He didn’t have to dislike the idea so much!)

Comment

Kanetsugu is such a sweetheart lmao. By the way, if the message wasn’t clear, the reason why he is refused the massage so vehemently is because he is getting ideas about MC and let’s just say he is starting to regret his decision in letting MC sleep in his room.
