oh wow it’s been a while, hasn’t it. welp, I’m good. played ReMind and it was really really great! So now I’m back to streaming the main game, but I’m working towards ultima along with oathkeeper (gonna have to wait until critical for oblivion). Also I got an elgato for Xmas, so I’ll be using that from now on!

one moment i wish people talked about more in the raven cycle is when gansey confesses to being greedy when it comes to magic. how he says that all the wonderful, slightly terrifying things he encountered lost their meaning after a while because he was always looking for more

excelsior - onwards and upwards - but what happens when you climb so high you forget everything below you? 

looking back on that moment i think it’s really important because it shows why the ending of trk was so important. if everything had culminated exactly how gansey wanted it to - if wishes were granted and summer never ended - then i think he would have never have understood the value of everything he had already

one of the big developments in gansey’s character is him recognising the privilege he has and i think without the series ending the way it did that would never have happened because one of the greatest privileges he has - and one of the most important in the books - is the relationships he has with his friends and i think that deserved to be highlighted

all of the gangsey are a little bit in love with and willing to die for each other and that’s immensely important to the story. they are people that are all a little lost on their own who are able to feel safe and understood together and that’s one of the core themes of the books 

and in the decision for glendower not to be what they wanted it not only makes gansey appreciate all the other magic he has around him - blue and the women of fox way, ronan the greywaren and cabeswater, adam the magician - but also the beauty of his family - something just as magical and rare and completely fundamental to the story and to gansey

The Spy Kids movies have the exact vibe of when you and your friends are running around in the backyard creating an elaborate story based entirely around whatever random nonsense happens to be lying around.  This empty happy meal box is a computer.  If I spin this bop-it the right way it will unlock the secret door.  We have to get to the jets! (The jets are the swings).  My little sister says her pigtails spin around and let her fly and we all agree with that.  These swim goggles let me see through walls.  There are a series of stepping stones leading to a big rock in the middle of the garden.  The rock is the office of the Head Spy and the dirt is actually a bottomless pit, so you have to be careful when you jump across.  The bad guys have disabled all our weapons but my necklace is actually a secret super cool weapon that works anyway!  There’s logic and continuity but only as much as a bunch of five-to-twelve year olds can keep straight without bothering to keep notes or look up any science facts they don’t already happen to know.  This is not a complaint.

my favorite thing to do in this christian society is to pretend that i don’t know a SINGLE thing abt christianity. like sometimes people will mention things like going to church with their families or upcoming holidays & i’ll act utterly clueless abt all of it even though i know absolutely everything ever just bc it’s funny to see people fumble to justify + tell me abt things. if i constantly have to explain my religion and practices to ignorant people, y’all are gonna have to do the exact same thing

like one time i asked this girl what christmas was with my blankest possible expression & she looked at me incredulously & slowly said “it’s jesus’s birthday…” and i was like oh that’s cool! who’s jesus? :-) & she froze for a good fifteen seconds. i think i gave her brain damage it was great
