#its a lot heavier in tone than the books are

i watched both episodes with my mom after she asked if i’d give it a chance. she seems pretty excited for the series and it makes sense since i read the books to her when they first came out and she loved them. it’s something else we can watch together now. i definitely talked too much about everything I remember from the books but came away from the second episode neutral about it so far which was better than I expected things to turn out. The aesthetic for the children is glaringly missing but I am grateful at least that Constance’s actress is nailing the stubborn toddler vibes despite not being a toddler.
