The aim while creating the paperback edition of Evie Wyld’s latest novel was to give a peak into the narrative which spans different timelines, the viewpoints of three different women and the severity of their experiences they felt on the Island. The Designer and Picture Editor worked together to find the right foreground painting, before the designer added photographed ripped pieces of paper to frame the Bass in all of its beautiful brutality.
Described as a modern gothic triumph, The Bass Rock is published by Vintage, and available now.

It’s been 25 years since Sapphire’s Push was first published and it’s now been re-relased as a red spine Vintage Classics paperback to mark the occasion. Brighton based Printmaker and Illustrator @yolandemutale was commissioned to create the drawings on the cover. Her work deals with heavy, socio-political issues in a playful and engaging way. The bright colour palette and organic figures represent the narrative without revealing too much and perfectly walks the line between serious and playful. The end result is a truly inspiring cover.
