In Pretenders, life imitates deadly arts as a French New Wave obsessed film student, Terry, finds his muse in mysterious and beguiling actress, Catherine. Both Terry and his best friend, Phil, fall under the spell of this beautiful woman. But they soon realize that the more time they spend with her, the more enigmatic she becomes. I’m not dissapointed with this 2nd installment actually. They added drama effect and the writer and director still stick to the “non-supernatural elements horror” but I expected that they will continue the first part with Jane Levy but things happen WITH a reason I had 3 major jump scares and a lot of minor. I shed a tear especially in the dogs scene

Speedy review theme because I really want to get up to date for 2017. So:
- It sits somewhere between horror and thriller
- It’s excellent at building suspense, and holding it in the film until start to finish.
- At the start, it’s difficult to know which side you should be on. But then *that thing* happens and it’s like, Ok, you know now.
- Jane Levy is, as always, great. She needs to be in more stuff.
- There’s some Silence of the Lambs vibes n it, which is always a good thing.
- Don’t breathe is great little films and I’d recommend it.
- You might want to have a gin on hand to get you through the extra tense bits.
