“Seeing the hate Jeanne gets on this site kinda annoys me but I can still avoid it if I want to. I’m just writing this to vent a bit because the fandom in my country is just so so much more awful. Hating on female characters like Jeanne is a common thing here, and when I speak up I just always get shut down. They hate on her for the smallest thing she does, shame her body, calling her awful names, saying that she doesn’t deserve Vanitas, insult her because other characters like her ??? I’m just so fucking tired.“

“I think Jeanne being some kind of clone of faustina’s would make a lot of sense. Cause you know how all vampires seem to have this very weird attachment to their queen? Chloe described it to be like an “instinct.” Many vampires in the story seems attracted to Jeanne right away (Domi, luca, noe, Luna) and yeah I get it she’s hot but like… even noe? who seems to have feelings for her even though he’s thought about her a total of two times and has spent most of his time thinking about vanitas?? Even Luna, the vampire of the blue moon? whose supposed to hate vampires, and seems to have been only watching Jeanne from afar, but apparently she liked her enough to tell child vanitas bedtime stories on her??? It’s all very weird. It’ll be funny though if there’s actually no reason behind this, and it’s literally just that jeanne is hot.“

“I hope Jeanne’s seiyuu/voice actress has a bit of a deeper voice, not deep deep, but the type of voice that’s still soft and yet asserts dominance. Someone in the past said that Yosano’s seiyuu from Bungou Stray Dogs is a good choice, and I agree. I’m also hoping that Lord Ruthven’s seiyuu is Junichi Suwabe.“

“i don’t think vanijeanne is toxic..i’ve seen more people who dislike it because it feels forced and started with vanitas kissing her without her consent. also, vanitas and noé don’t actually dislike each other if you couldn’t tell. personally i think vanijeanne looked better in recent chapters where it’s more genuine but vannoé has more chemistry to me.“

“I’ve seen a lot of people saying they dislike Vanijeanne because it’s abusive and say Vanoe is fine and healthy, but fail to mention that Vanitas and Noe say they dislike each other and Vani tried to stab Noe… I feel like if Vanijeanne is toxic, so is Vanoe“

“I just blitzed through VnC… I’m somewhat appalled to see people legitimately “"shipping”“ Vanitas and Jeanne, canonicity nonwithstanding, considering that it’s founded upon Vanitas disrespecting her/violating her boundaries in what could be called a form of self-harm towards himself given the way he prefers people who aren’t interested in him (repelled by him) given that it matches his internal self-image. Jeanne deserves better. When are people going to stop drooling over harassment dynamics?“

“it was made clear that jeanne’s “lack of personality” was a consequence of her abuse and the way she was dehumanized as bourreau. that’s why after her arc of regaining agency we see her revert to her cheerful bubbly younger self. my only issue with jeanne’s writing is that she doesn’t seem to have well developed relationships with characters other than vanitas (there’s potential for domi and luca but i don’t think we’re there yet) but her arc is still very much about her“

“Regarding chapter 39, if Vanitas has promised Jeanne he won’t die before her and he’s dead in the narration’s time, does that mean Jeanne is too? I’m suddenly more worried than I previously was. That, or he isn’t really dead and this is foreshadowing.“
