You heard his gentle breathing first, as the sunlight tried to push through the bedroom curtains. The light was still soft as you stirred and turned to face him. You sighed with a soft smile as his fluffy hair mussed against the pillow, his lips parted ever so slightly. You drank in his profile as he slept on his back. You couldn’t help but ever so slightly wiggle up against him to cuddle, laying one hand gingerly on his chest. You felt him stir under you and you grimaced, hoping you hadn’t woken him up.
Bucky turned to you and held a finger to his kissable lips. Wait, what?
“You’re telling the story all wrong!” Sam teased. “You said…” Sam saw the daggers you were shooting him and he stopped speaking.
You huffed and started again. “As I was saying…”
“If we manage to get out of here we are going on a date, right?” Bucky signed. You rolled your eyes hard. While you and the rest of the team had been eager to learn, much to Clint’s mock dismay, Bucky seemed to forget what he was signing and the constant audience around you. Sam witnessed every cheesy pickup attempt and teased Bucky mercilessly. “Were you this smooth back in the day?”
Damn right I did!
Sam shut up; I’m telling this story
You ignored Bucky until you heard Nat quietly call over the coms. “Everything okay over there?” Before you had a chance to respond, a flurry of bullets could be heard just behind you and you cringed. “Never mind,” Nat deadpanned. “Backup’s on its way.” You shook your head, daring to look back at Bucky. His shitty grin told you exactly what he was thinking: “Told you so.”
You pointed past his position; he shook his head. You pointed past yourself and again he shook his head. Exasperated you sighed loudly and started to open your mouth.
Bucky flew at you, covering your mouth with his. Your eyes flew wide at the shot of electricity that coursed through you. Bucky pulled back only a fraction before slanting his mouth against yours hungrily. He swallowed your moans as his tongue teased your lips.
“You two can get a room after this if you want,” Nat teased. Bucky turned startled at the sound of her voice. “We took ‘em out.” Nat’s head tilted right then left with a knowing smirk before heading down the now-deserted tunnels.
Bucky turned back to you, his smile suddenly shy. “So about that date…”
“And that’s how Mommy and Daddy first knew they were in love. The End.” Bucky rumbled as he entered your daughter’s bedroom. Bianca giggled then yawned and stretched her arms out.
“Mommy can you tell me how you and Daddy made me and my brothers now?” she cried sleepily. You closed your eyes and sighed softly.
“Not tonight sweetie, Uncle Sam has to go home before Daddy hits him,” you chuckled under your breath. Bianca yawned again and smiled, burrowing into her pillow.
“Tomorrow then, ‘kay Mommy?”
“Sure sweetie. Say good night to Uncle Sam.”
Sam leaned over and kissed her forehead. “Night munchkin.”
“Night Uncle Sam! Love you!”
Sam smiled at her. “Love you too kid.” Then he turned to Bucky with a grin, before punching his metal arm. “Night punk.”
Bucky smiled back fondly, knowing the easy reference. “Night jerk.”
“Night punk,” came a tiny reply. All three of you shook your heads in silent laughter as Bianca drifted off to sleep.
Bianca is adorable! I wish I could see her momma try to explain how she and her siblings got there. Maybe she’ll get lucky and the kiddo will forget come morning. Doubt it though.

You felt the eyes on you as you peered into the microscope. You were pretty sure you knew who it was but you trained your eyes on the specimen in front of you instead. No need to look like a fool in front of him today, you thought to yourself. A throat cleared beside you; you closed your eyes and prayed you were wrong.
Nope, you thought as a pair of stormy blue eyes twinkled at you, crinkled at the corners as he smiled. “Hey y/n, whatcha lookin’ at?” You tried to think of a smart comment but all you managed to eke out was “Um… I, a…. Hi.” His smile only grew as he moved on to another classmate, high-fiving him in greeting. You slumped back into your seat with a quiet groan.
“Class, five more minutes before we discuss the midterm.”
Chris Beck jogged up to catch her; she was the most driven person in his biology class and he knew you were heading into the medical field like he was. “Y/n!” he yelled. “Y/n, wait up!” You stopped and turned jaw agape. “Thanks for waiting for me,” he teased with a wink.
“I… um… hi.” His chuckle gave you goosebumps as you stared dumbly at him. He waited for a second to see if you would say anything else. Instead, your head dipped in embarrassment, hoping the floor might suddenly swallow you whole.
“Y/n, I was hoping you would want to study with me for midterms. I could use the help.” His eyes bore down on your still hung head.
You thought about his offer for a moment then raised your head in confusion. “You’re like, ahead of me in class. And you want my help?”
Chris smiled again. “She speaks,” he teased. “Okay so maybe I’m no slouch in class, but I wouldn’t mind studying with the prettiest girl in class. What’d ya say?” His eyes twinkled again as they did in class and once again you were gobsmacked.
“Um… I, ya know….”
“Just say yes and make my day a little better. Please?” His look turned pleading and his lips pursed into an adorable pout. How can he be this pretty, you wondered.
Slightly exasperated and completely shocked by his compliment you said the first thing that popped into your head. “Well if I’m the prettiest, why haven’t you asked me out before?”
Chris’s smile was nearly blinding at the sass. “See! I knew you were smarter than me.” He gently swung his left arm around your shoulders and pulled you gently to his side before heading towards the student rec center. “Let’s grab lunch so you can tell me more about how stupid I’ve been for not asking you out sooner.”
