“i’m not trying to defend them. it’s just- some people don’t react well to finding out that there’s a whole subset of humankind that could easily overpower the average person. they felt powerless. their entire world changed and they didn’t know how to protect us from the new reality.”

Remembering The War Rooms

Yesterday, one year ago, Jenna Coleman was announced to be executive producer, and play the lead role of Joan Bright in the new TV drama “The War Rooms”.

But following the initial announcement, there has been no further comment made about it at all, by anyone associated with this show. Filming has not started yet, and we don’t even know when it is likely to start. There has not even been any announcement that it has been delayed, or that the producers are still seeking out actors for certain roles, or anything like that. Jenna has never said anything about it, besides sharing the initial announcement. She never mentioned it in any interview. Towards the end of 2021, a fan asked David Chidlow what the status of it was, and he apparently replied by saying that there would hopefully be some news in early 2022. Well, there hasn’t been any news about it in early 2022 either.

I think the reason for this predicament is possibly because no one has agreed to fund it yet. In the initial, and only announcement for it, there was no mention of who it would be produced by. We don’t know if it would be a BBC, ITV, Netflix, Amazon prime etc. show. I guess the announcement was made because the producers were confident that they would get the funding, but when they were turned down, they ended their plans for the development of the show, but still left open the possibility that perhaps in the future they would get the funding for it.

I hope that it will still be produced, it sounds like it would be a fantastic show. But I am no longer counting on this show being made. The lack of comments about it also seems to indicate a lack of interest from the producers, in making this show a reality.

By now I have placed The War Rooms right next to Victoria series 4; as a show that could have been produced, that has not been officially canceled yet, that will probably never be officially canceled, but which will probably also never be filmed.
