our souls, intertwined | Chapter 3 : just between us, did the love affair maim you too?

Because everything in her life felt easier knowing that throughout it all there would be Jon: The buoy that seemed to keep her moored—no longer floating aimlessly, carried by violent waves that threatened to pull her under when she least expected it.

So, yes, she gave him everything she could, and greedily took everything he had to offer in return, acutely aware of the consequences and the risks, yet unable and unwilling to stay away from him. Living for the hope of it all, savouring each stolen kiss, making love on borrowed time, as if the world didn’t risk crumbling down around them should they be discovered.

Almost five months of bliss.

She should have noticed the cracks in their glasshouse.

One Last Time

Written for Day 2: Dom Dany prompt of the Jonerys Orgasmic October 2k21 hosted by @snowxstormworld

The autumn air hits him as soon as he steps out into the dimly lit back alley, sending a shiver through his entire body. It’s not that cold, but the contrast between the stuffy air inside the club and the chilly night makes it impossible not to tense up. Or maybe it’s just his nerves.

The smell of rain persists in the air, a fresh sheen of droplets covering the ground and the only car parked out here—his car. It unlocks a distant memory of a night eerily similar to this one. He catches himself wishing tonight would end the same, in the arms of the woman he…wants. Not even inside his head does he think of the other word—the stronger one—the one they’ll never be able to say to each other.

It’s in the way his pulse is throbbing in his veins; the way his breathing is becoming laboured—in and out, in and out. No drug could ever compare to the anticipation, the build-up before he finally gets what he’s been craving. The wait is part of the game. It’s torture if he’s being honest, but he’d happily wait again and again, for as long as it takes because he knows that she always comes for him.

Fleetingly, a City Watch siren goes off in the distance. A harbinger, of sorts. One that he intentionally chooses to ignore, though he shivers again. No amount of alarms or red flags could keep him away from her. He’s tried—gods know he has. Just one more time, then we’ll stop, he thinks to himself every time. Yet all it takes is seeing her again and just like that, he’s back where he started.
