[Kakashi Hatake X Reader] Asking For a Friend

Week 1: Attraction|Day 2: You ask Kakashi very specific questions for the sake of your ‘friend’, are you really?

Pairing: Kakashi Hatake x gn!Reader

It was raining outside the staff room of the Ninja Academy, where you and Kakashi were sitting on a couch, minding your own things. The silver-haired had his focus on his favorite reads while you were deliberating whether or not to get the weight off of your chest—a weight that you have been carrying for quite a few dreading months.

“Kakashi, what do you look for in a partner?” You suddenly realized that it was so arbitrary for you to ask him like that and cleared your throat, “You know, m-my friend, they have a-a crush on you…”

“Your friend?” You successfully grabbed his attention by then as he finally put down his book and fixed his gaze on you. “Who are they and why are you stammering? I’d like to know if it’s possible.”

“Nevermind,” you mumbled, moving away from him to calm your flushing cheeks.

But once Kakashi had his attention on something, he would never let it go. He smiled and began negotiating, “One letter for one trait, how does that sound?”

Your eyes glinted at the possibility of randomly spitting out a letter that was not in your name. You crossed both arms and looked at him with inquiry-filled eyes. Kakashi sighed and replied nonetheless, “Someone who likes dogs.”

I knew that already, you thought, as obvious as it seemed. Already at a disadvantage, you huffed and chose another random letter. He leaned back, enjoying the trade. “Someone who loves to read.”

I know that, too, you furrowed your brows at a loss for words. You felt like Kakashi would never get to the main course at this rate—you already noted the traits he listed, and you needed more. Giving it another try, you hoped the man would be more helpful, but he blatantly stated, “Someone who can attune to my perception of time.”

“I know that already!” You growled—

“Butyour friend might not, Y/N.” He nonchalantly smiled, his visible eye making a beautiful crescent. Despite how delightful the man looked, his words carried electricity that shook you to the core.

“I meant I can tell them those things without your inputs.” You gulped nervously and chuckled, “Next letter.”

“The letter is unnecessary,“ she shrugged, "someone like Y/N.”
