The National Monument on Calton Hill, Edinburgh. Originally intended to be a replica of the Parthenon, built in the 1800s to commemorate victory in the Napoleonic Wars, it was never finished (and most of us prefer it this way!). On the hill just moments from busy Princes Street, this is a popular spot for tourists as it gives 360 degree views over Edinburgh.

The Message from the Skies sound and light installation has returned to the city this month, dotted round the town, all with a pro-European theme (Scotland voted heavily to remain in the EU and is rather angry at having its wished totally ignored). This one, by Kapka Kassabova, is projected each evening onto the National Monument until Jan 25th, here are a few shots I took on a freezing cold evening tonight as it cycled through the show.
