Kitt Peak Moonrise
The full moon rises behind the Kitt Peak National Observatory Mayall 4-m Telescope.

This is a single image, not a composite, photographed on 17 March 2022 at a distance of nearly 10 miles (16 km). The moonrise was photographed using a Pentax K-3ii DSLR, smc P-DA* 300mm F4 ED IF SDM lens, and HD Pentax-DA AF Rear Converter 1.4x AW teleconverter, at ISO 100, 1/10 s, f/8. Planning for the alignment was conducted using The Photographer’s Ephemeris, and editing was performed in Lightroom Classic.
