LIVE

January 22’

It’s been a month… literally I did not realise that being in class everyday was so exhausting how did i manage to do this in high school but at last I’m actually done with class, for the remainder of the semester I’m either in clinical rotations or labs.

I’m not mad about being able to make my own schedule and I’m definitely going to enjoy it before entering the second cycle of med school, especially since I’ve been feeling like a main character in a 90s meeting some friends for dinner once a week.

So February is definitely going to be a self study/rest because it’s the dead of winter/understand what will be required to pass because no one is telling us anything kinda of month but I’m excited, what is on your plate ?

January 16, 2022

When they said January was going to be an obstacle course I did not think they meant literally but oh well, technically I’m already halfway through my course for the semester since lectures only ran through the end of January after it’s labs, presentation and clinical rotations. I’m aiming to have most of my flash cards and nots ready by the first week of February and also be done with my online course by the 21st of February so I can focus on review during my rotations.

Also I set that weird goal of reading 25,000 pages this year so I’m reading quite a bit, last weekend was the camilla läckberg novella, this week it’s Dune, a feminist library and you’ve reached Sam. I’m already behind schedule. But oh well it’s just for fun, same goes with the yoga with Adriene move challenge somedays i come home so drained that I almost fall asleep mid meditation so I think of putting it on hold and focusing on specific exercises when I feel like it 3-5 times a week for the next 2 weeks.

2020 vs 2022 | 09.05.2022

the difference two years can make.. there’s more yellow, more queer reads, some creepy reads, even more poetry and a few beloved series

peek that philodendron brazil in the top left corner still going strong while all the others have died lmao

so as the dearest @bulletnotestudies says: with struggles but with the heart here’s my top 10 books that are on this shelf:

  1. the long way to a small angry planet (chambers)
  2. harrow the ninth (muir)
  3. was man von hier aus sehen kann (leky)
  4. the book thief (zusak)
  5. the invisible life of addie larue (schwab)
  6. iron widow (zhao)
  7. the princess saves herself in this one (lovelace)
  8. sei klug und halte dich an wunder (kaleko)
  9. the priory of the orange tree (shannon)
  10. yesterday I was the moon (unnahar)

Language Challenge

So I went to Waterstones the other day and bought Dutch in 3 Months by DK. I don’t know a word of Dutch and have the absolute bare bones, basic knowledge of German, so I thought about documenting my progress with learning Dutch with this book. Well, onlythis book and the free audio app that comes with it.

Is this an objectively terrible way to learn a language? No idea, that’s what I’m finding out, but it sure isn’t ideal to use only 1 resource. Am I going to do it anyway to find out how effective this book is? Yes.

I’ve been interested in Dutch for a while because of its similarity to German (and also because of Ray and Theo <3 @dutch-polyglot@theosaurus), so this might be a good way to work through my German hiatus and form some language alliances for among us purposes

I have my AS exams in the next couple months so I have no idea how consistent I’ll be with this, who knows I may give up halfway through, but better to have learned something than not learn anything at all, right?

I’m going to try and start this challenge in March and give weekly progress updates, but again, historically I haven’t been consistent with completing langblr challenges so keep your expectations on the floor for me

I’ll be tagging my posts with #90dutchdays if you want to follow along :D

06.06 // One more day spent in Mangwon. 25min naps to combat “had only 4h of sleep last night” syndrome. The lovestory between me and Sundubujjigae is a tragic one, it always upsets my stomach but it’s just too good!

it’s been a while since i posted (ironically in my last post i said i’d make saturdays my “official” posting days but oh well live kinda happened and that was decidedly Not Fun. anyways, this week i finally made it to the Deichmanske Bibliotek and snapped one (1) pic. so many books. so. many. also featured: me cradling my newest physical acquisitions like the babies they are :’) i will happily (re)read them once i move back home in the summer - i absolutely cannot wait

I’m back! With new blorbos!

queer found family: The Hourglass Throne by K. D. Edwards // 5 stars

reminder to go check out the cw on the authors website!

Where do I even start with this book? It has unlocked at least 12 new emotions, made me physically scream and completely eradicated my ability to communicate like a normal person. This book ticked All The Boxes. All of them. The family is FOUND. Oh my GOD is this family found I am going to cry about this for months???? Honorable mention to Rune Saint John and Brandon Saint John for making me experience what the allos call YearningTM because their friendship. their devotion. their trust and understanding. I have no words. Where do I sign up to become a companion?? Apart from the to die for character dynamics theres also plot that is fast and dense and political and so spicy and good and interwoven it was a joy to peel back all the layers the further I read! I’m down bad for the worldbuilding and the rules magic and this beautiful urban fantasy setting. If the speed at which I decoured these books doesn’t tell you how hyped I am I don’t know what will. New blorbos from my books have arrived. Thank you for your attention. I will now go be normal about Rune Saint John and his family. Good night.

10.06 // Incheon Chinatown the second! the weather wasn’t suuuper nice but we spent like 3 hours in this cafe just chatting about exchange student drama, how weird it is that every foreigner here seems to desparately want to date, and how incredibly frustrating people’s weird and unhealthy behavior around romance is. One of the best days to be honest.
