Cécile McLorin Salvant has released a video of her performing Harold Arlen, Yip Harburg, and Herbert Stothart’s “Optimistic Voices” and Gregory Porter’s “No Love Dying,” from her Nonesuch debut album, Ghost Song, with Sullivan Fortner on piano, Marvin Sewell on guitar, Alexa Tarantino on flute, and Keita Ogawa on percussion. Salvant and the band will give the New York premiere performance of Ghost Song in two shows at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater tonight and on Friday. Tonight’s performance will also stream live and will be available on demand through May 18.

Nicole Miller is encouraging her customers to find inspiration in their boyfriend’s closets for Fall 2013. In a collection not so discretely entitled “Menswear with a twist… Raiding the boyfriend’s closet”, she interpreted traditional menswear pieces into versions cut & styled for a woman & the result was a delightful, at time whimsical, collection that was one of Ms. Miller’s best efforts of the recent past.

MILLY NYFW F/W 2013
Milly’s last SS13 collection brought an 80’s sense from the music playing in the background to the clothing coming down the runway. For F/W 2013 Michelle Smith, designer and founder of Milly used the urban landscape of NYC with a 90’s vibe as her inspiration. The show opened with a remix of Suzanne Vega’s, “Tom’s Diner.”
