andBeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge: Sleek Sustainability and Stellar Stargazing in the Namib Desert

Striking sustainable design, helicopter rides over the blood-orange dunes, and stargazing sessions with an astronomer - you don’t get many chances to experience the otherworldly Namib desert this way. Renovated by architect Jack Alexander and Fox Browne Creative agency, the recently opened andBeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge offers all these and much more amidst one of Africa’s most spellbinding landscapes.

Fusing rock, glass, and rusted steel, the hotel’s architecture takes inspiration from the surreal surroundings, and so do its sleek interiors. There are 10 stand-alone suites, each entirely solar-powered and refined with thoughtful details like over-bed skylights, private plunge pools, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the passing wildlife.
