It’s officially New York Fashion Week S/S 2022. While we have postponed our annual NYFW show at Brooklyn Museum for the second year in row (we will be back!), we did so out of an abundance of caution given that our annual program - the largest queer fashion show in the US and possibly globally - attracts 2000+ attendees indoors. However, we were invited to #worldpride2021 by @visitsweden and sent a vaccinated and tested correspondent to cover the amazing exhibitions and virtual events, including #THEAMSTERDAMRAINBOWDRESS - a living work of art made of all the national flags from countries where homosexuality is illegal, on penalty of imprisonment, torture, or capital punishment. When a country adopts LGBTI+ inclusive legislation, the respective flag shall be replaced with a rainbow flag. Designers: Mattijs van Bergen, Arnout van Krimpen, Jochem Kaan and Oeri van WoezikIn.
Virtual events at the conference sessions cerebrating #MalmöPride also included:
TransFashion Show
Double oppression – LGBTQI Youth of Color
Rainbow refugee community – What it means to be a minority within a minority
#YouAreIncluded – Debunking myths around LGBTI+ people, religion and faith
We were especially excited for the Summit on refugees, borders and migration (Summit om flyktingar, gränser och migration), which confronted global discourses concerning borders, refugees and immigration through an LGBTQIA+ lens.
