The best new idea Mark had thought of recently was a line of streamlined cloud-based productivity software: word processors and spreadsheet programs and the like, but that wasn’t exactly flashy, and therefore not really aligned with Waddle’s brand.
He sipped his coffee and cringed when he realized that he’d been so preoccupied he had accidentally ordered his latte with almond milk foam, rather than almond infused foam. Well, subpar coffee for a subpar day. He sat on a bench and glared at it for a moment. Maybe Waddle could start making internet-connected smart coffee cups?
He knew the idea was nonsense as soon as he’d thought it.
“Was that Glomgold you were talking to just now?” Mark asked, fighting to keep his voice level as he took a casual sip of his coffee.
“Yes dear. We’re dating.”
Mark regretted that sip as he choked on it, sputtering scalding liquid onto his shirt. His mother handed him a napkin, disdain written strongly across her face.
“He looks a lot like my fourth husband, don’t you think?” she continued
“You’ve only been married three times, Mom.”
“Precisely, dear.”
