LIVE

[10:44pm] mark lee; fluff, tw alcohol. 0.5k words.

mark lee was a lightweight. this was a fact you knew well. and so, when you went out for a few late-night drinks with your boyfriend, you should’ve known it was going to end this way. while you were only tipsy, mark was passing into full-on drunk.

the walk home was only fifteen minutes normally, but you were taking it slowly, mark’s hand tightly grasping yours.

“hey,” mark murmured. “the park.”

you walked past the playground every day on your way to work, but it was eerily quiet and empty - as expected at this late hour. the roundabout sat motionless, the climbing frame empty.

mark looked at you, a scarily mischievous grin on his face. “should we…”

“the gate’s locked, mark,” you pointed out. “c'mon, let’s get home.”

he scoffed. “the fence is, what, a foot high?”

before you had the opportunity to respond, mark had let go of your hand, crossed the street, and hopped the fence. you blinked. and followed his steps.

mark was sitting on the swingset, beaming as he waited for you to join him. you took a seat on the second swing, and looked over at your boyfriend. you couldn’t help but smile back at him. his eyes were sparkling in the light of the streetlamps, and he looked positively angelic.

with a laugh, mark began to swing, pushing his legs through the air to boost his height. his giggles were music to your ears, and you followed suit.

“look how high i can go,” mark panted, and you chuckled at him.

“hey, watch this!” he said suddenly, and before you knew what was happening, he jumped off the seat, flying through the air and (miraculously) landing neatly on the cushioned rubber floor.

“oh my god, be careful!” you gasped at him.

“i’m a professional, baby,” he waved away your worries, looking very proud of his maneuver. you slowed your swinging down gradually, watching as mark shrugged out of his coat, discarding it on the floor and stretching his arms wide.

“you’ll catch a cold, mark lee,” you tutted, though he failed to listen.

“come here,” he said, extending his hand out to you. “come dance with me.”

you smiled, standing up. “there’s no music, markie.”

“we don’t need any,” he said, taking you into his arms. his hands went to your waist, and you rested yours on his shoulders. you let him move you, swaying together to an imaginary beat under the light of the moon.

“you’re so beautiful,” mark complimented you, gazing at you with pure adoration in his eyes. you leaned in, wrapping your arms around the back of his neck and kissing his lips.

“you’re so warm,” you said, pulling his body closer to yours and absorbing his body heat, combating the cool temperatures of the night. mark squeezed you tightly, picking you up and spinning you around.

“mark!” you giggled, and he put you down, kissing you again.

“let’s go home,” you suggested, and he nodded. “don’t forget your coat!”

“okay, baby,” he said, picking his coat up from the ground and taking your hand in his once more.

[12.05 pm] Mark finished today’s practice, covered in sweat and exhausted beyond limits. Being an idol had it’s ups and downs and some days were harder than others; today being one of them. Suddenly, a thought came to his mind and he couldn’t help but smile softly to himself when he pictured you as a small blanket burrito, sleeping on the bed, your cheeks cutely smashed against the pillows just like they always were when you were sleeping. He couldn’t help his heart from thumping a bit harder in his chest at the realization that soon enough, he’d be in bed, in the arms of the person that made his bad days bright, the person that made all of his worries go away, the person that was his home.

[12.00 am] You and Mark chasing Pokémons in the middle of the night, both too competitive to stop, even if you knew that you’d be hearing it from your managers when you got back to your dorms.

Mark is packing for tour and it will be the first time in Mark and Y/n’s relationship that they are going to spend a significant about of time apart from one another.

Part of the long term couples series.

Sitting crossed legged on Mark’s bed you watch as he opens one of his dresser drawers and pulls out some shirts and transfers them into the suitcase sitting next to you. You glance at the shirts he’s put in then follow Marks movements as he makes his way to the closet. This is going to be the first time that you and Mark are going to be spending a long period of time apart from one another since you started dating. It was a strange feeling to know that the two of you would not be able to see one another for over three months maybe even longer. Depending how long promotions took and if they added more stops to the tour. This does not leave a lot of time for him to come back to South Korea and it wasn’t like you could just leave your job and follow him around. You also didn’t feel like the two of you were at that point yet in your relationship. You hadn’t even spent the night at his place yet. It was definitely not time for you to follow him on tour.

Maybe that was why you were feeling weird about him going on tour. Because your relationship was still pretty new, and you were worried about what this time apart would do to the two of you. Would this make your relationship stronger or would it end up breaking the two of you apart. It was something that you had to seriously consider. You were no fool and knew that many relationships like yours struggle to last when one person in the relationship was always gone. Relationships were hard in general and then you add distance into it, it’s just another added challenge.

“How many sweatshirts do you think I should take?” Mark questions drawing you out of your thoughts. You look over at Mark and see that his arms are overflowing with sweatshirts, and you laugh at the sight. Getting up from the bed you walk over to Mark and take about half of the sweatshirts out of his arms.

“You are able to do laundry on tour. So, you don’t need to bring all of them. Three is probably enough.” You start to refold his sweatshirts and placing then back in the closet while Mark does and put the sweatshirts you left him with in his suitcase.

“I hate packing this is the worst part about going on tour,” Mark grumbles. Placing the last sweatshirt back in the closet you make your way back to Mark and wrap your arms around his and rest your cheek against his back. Mark rests his hands over yours and peers at you over his shoulder. You squeeze him before shifting so you are now standing in front of him.

“You’re almost finished. I think you’ll survive,” you tell him. Mark nods his head in agreement then leans down to kiss your cheek before he goes back to packing and you reclaim your spot on his bed.

As Mark continues to pack the two of you talk about what places he is looking forward to seeing. What songs he is most excited to perform and other random topics. He asks you about how you research into going back to school is going and you admit to him that you still aren’t sure what you want to do and don’t want to waste money on school until you know what you want to go to school for. As Mark zips up his final suitcase he smiles at you in triumph. You return the smile but feel like it is forced and Mark notices.

He moves the suitcase off the bed and takes it spot. He pulls you onto his lap cradling you, you wrap your arms around his neck and take a moment to enjoy being close to him. Because you are going to have to let this feeling last you for a long time. Your eyes start to sting, and you blink rapidly hoping that Mark doesn’t notice. You don’t want to cry and make him feel bad for going on tour. You’re happy that he is doing this and want him to go. It’s just sad to think that he’s going to be so far away from you for a long time.

“I’m going to miss you while I’m on tour. I think this is one of the first times that I have ever been sad about going on tour.” Mark admits.

“I don’t want you to be sad about going on tour,” you tell him looking up into those wide eyes of his. “You should be excited about going on tour. I’m excited for you. It’s just a little sad to think about being away from you for so long.”

“Some of the guys told me what it’s like to be apart from someone you care about while on tour. I used to think that they were being silly when we were on tour, and they talked about how much they missed the person they are with. I get it now. I haven’t even left yet, and I already miss you and can’t wait to come back.” Mark lets out a humorless laugh.

“Bet you listen to your hyungs better now huh.” You tease trying to lighten the mood a little bit.

“Don’t tell them but yeah I’ll listen to them from now on.” Mark smiles a little, but you can tell that it’s a forced smile.

“Did they happen to give you any advice on how to handle a long-distance relationship? What works and what doesn’t?” You would have asked your best friend but the two of you were actually in the same boat and you didn’t feel comfortable yet asking any of the boys’ girlfriends.

“They said that it was important to be honest with each other. Don’t lie about being fine when you aren’t. And that making your relationship a priority was important. That trying to connect with each other even if it was for a few minutes was important.” You nodded your head in agreement.

“Maybe there will be a time that I can take off of work and come see you for a little bit,” you throw the idea out there then quickly add, “if that were something you would like.”

“Of course, I would like for you to come visit me. If I could I would bring you with me for the whole tour.” Mark admits and you feel your eyes filling with tears again. This time you aren’t quick enough to stop them and have to wipe them away. “I didn’t mean to make you cry.”

“I know and they’re not tears of sorrow. What you said was really sweet and it got to me. I’m going to miss you a lot while you’re gone. But I’m going to try and find a time to come see you.” You said with more determination in your voice. You were going to make this happen.

“I’ll help you in anyway I can. We’ll be fine. It’ll be hard but I know we can make it through this.” Mark leans down to connect his lips with yours and as his lips touch your you know that he’s right. You two were solid and even though you were just starting off in this relationship you were going to make it work because you both cared deeply for one another.

Mark and Y/n are enjoying some time together and are just being an adorable couple.

Part of the long term couples series.

With your eyes closed you let your mind wander as the bright colors from the sunlight danced across your lids. In the distance you could hear Mark laughing as him and Haechan played their video game. Mark and you had spent the day together wondering shops together, hands linked you leaning into him. Thinking of that you smiled softly to yourself. Mark was not a big fan of being touched by others but with you he seemed to be fine with you invading his space. When you had asked him about it, he just shrugged and told you ‘It’s because it’s you’.  You liked that.

Later the two of you returned to the dorm and you had found your way out onto the small deck they had and lounged in the hammock they had set up. Mark and Haechan settled on the couch and had started to play video games together. Their laughter had died down and you figured that the two of them had settled back into their game. You dropped your one leg placing your foot onto the ground and pushed off the ground to make the hammock sway gently.

As you swayed in the hammock the lights dancing behind your eyes were stopped. You cracked one eye open to see Mark standing over you, hands on his hips, smile on his face. You shield your eyes and smile up at Mark.

“All done with your video games?” Mark continues to watch you as you sway back and forth.

‘Haechan had to leave to go record some of his lines at the studio.” Mark tells you, you nod your head and then scoot over on the hammock, “join me, it’s nice out here.”

Mark joins you in the hammock the two of you shift around. Mark turns to his side and pulls you towards him, so you are facing him. He pulls your one leg over his waist, your hands rest on his chest and your head is tucked below his chin. It’s comfortable and you snuggle in closer to Mark. The two of you lay in silence for a while. Letting the sun beat down on you two, listening to the sounds of the city below. Just as you are about to drift off to sleep Mark speaks.

“I don’t know if I’ve told you this, but I have never been more thankful to Haechan then when he made me go on a double date with him,” you smile into Marks throat before leaning your head back to smile up at Mark. He’s already looking down at you when your eyes connect and there’s a smile on his face.

“Me too. If someone would have told me that three months ago, I would have met an awkward man, who can rap like it’s breathing I would have laughed in their faces. But now here I am.”

“I wasn’t awkward,” Mark protest and you can’t keep your laughter in. The fact that Mark honestly believes he wasn’t awkward when the two of you first met is hilarious to you. Every time you think of the first time the two of you met all you can remember is him shifting around awkwardly and going yo a bunch and you were almost positive his face was in a constant blush.

“Mark the first words out of your mouth were yoooo and then you blushed a bright shade of red. If that isn’t awkward, I don’t know what is!” You tease, “And then you couldn’t even look me in the eye for the first half an hour that we were together.”

“Okay, that’s enough talking about our first meeting,” Mark covers your mouth with his hand causing you to laugh hard and squirm against him. When he doesn’t move his hand away from your mouth you use your hands to start tickling him and Mark lets you go quickly.

“Y/n stop!” Mark shouts but there is laughter in his voice, and you know that he isn’t serious. You continue to attack him causing the hammock to sway dangerously. On one of your attacks, you lean into Mark too far and the two of you start to tumble. Lucky for you Mark wraps his arms around you quickly and leans the two of you back the other way saving you both from flipping out of the hammock.

“That was a close one,” you breathe.

“Would have served you right for making fun of me and attacking me like you did,” Mark scolds. You roll your eyes at his statement.

“And yet you saved me from falling,” you point out to Mark. He tucks his chin into his chest to peer down at you and kisses the tip of your nose.  You scrunch your nose at him you would never admit it out loud, but you loved when he kissed the tip of your nose.

“That’s because it’s you,” Mark informs you once again.

“Are you saying that if it was Haechan you would have let him fall?”

“I would have pushed him out and wouldn’t have thought twice about it,” you laugh at that. You should have picked someone else. Of course, Mark would have pushed Haechan out of the hammock. Mark loved Haechan but they definitely acted like brothers.

“What if it was Jisung?” You counter. Mark thinks about this a moment before he gives you a squeeze.

“I would hesitate but would probably save him. I wouldn’t hesitate though if it were you.”

           “Because it’s me?” You whisper.

“Because it’s you,” Mark confirms and that makes a warm feeling spread throughout your body and you shove your face into Marks chest to hide your blush and let out a little squeal.

“You have to stop being so cheesy I don’t know what to do with it! And don’t ever say that you don’t know how to be in a relationship ever again. Because you are doing just fine with it” You whine. Mark just laughs and if you didn’t like him so much you would push him out of the hammock.

“Alright, I’ll try to be less cheesy. If you’d liked when I order dinner, I’ll forget to order your favorite food to bring me down from being so amazing at this relationship thing.”

“I would appreciate that.” You grumble before touching your lips gently to Marks. He smiles into the kiss before he deepens the kiss.
