April 15, 1987 issue #115 of Amazing Heroes was published making it the first ever comics swimsuit special ever published. Thus creating history as swimsuit specials became a staple of the comic book industry for years to come.

This is all thanks to the inception of the great mind of Mark Waid. So if you want to blame some one than blame him.

And of course there’s the question of “are swimsuit specials sexist?”
