As most know by now, Markie Post from Night Court died recently. As did Charles Robinson. We lost two Night Court actors in a month! And of course we lost Harry Anderson a couple of years ago and I almost cried for two days straight, but I held it together.

“Daddy for the Defense” (watch here on the internet archive) was the second episode of the second season. It was Charles Robinson’s second episode after replacing Karen Austin who played the court clerk in the first season.

While to the untrained Night Court eye, you would think this was the beginning of Markie’s time on the show, it was not! She was merely filling in for one episode. The rest of of season two would have Ellen Foley (”Billie”) playing the role of the public defender. I’m so divided over Billie, I loved her season, but I also love Christine too.

While this episode deals with Christine’s first day on the job (what a strange outfit she chose, I mean, that jacket?) and her dad sabotaging it, let’s be real, Selma the bailiff coming back to work high on goofballs after her bunion removal surgery stole the show.
