My two cents:
It was because of Anthony kicking them out of Lady Danbury’s house (no complaints truly, I loved it) that the Sheffield’s withdrew their offer to provide a dowry for Edwina and support for Mary so while I’m thrilled that Kate & Anthony finally got together, the show did leave Edwina and Mary’s futures up in the air.
Plus, Nicola mentioned that there will be a new male character in season 3, but I haven’t heard context about who he’s supposed to be so I’m hoping it’s (Mr. Bagwell because he’s Edwina’s love match in the book) someone intended as a love match for Edwina which would give Anthony the opportunity to offer her a dowry and support for Mary now that they’re all family.
Okay can someone tell me about Mary Sharma/Sheffield’s background? Or direct me to where I can find it? I read the 8 main Bridgerton books but must have missed something??
I see some discussions here on tumblr as to whether Bridgerton is going to make the Sharma family a proper Indian family or maybe Mary is going to be an English second wife to Kate’s Indian father, making Edwina half-Indian half-English to Kate’s full Indian ancestry.
I think both versions are great ideas, but I have to say I do prefer Mary to be an Indian lady. Because for one, I believe representation is important not only for younger generations but also for more mature women.
And besides, we already have two fantastic matriarchs in the show - I’m talking about Lady Danbury and Violet, Lady Bridgerton, of course - and I just think it would be so great to have Lady Mary join their ranks as an Indian mom, see them plotting together and just generally having fun.

Shondaland edited and replaced the description for Mary’s character card; ‘her own daughters’ to ‘her daughters’, potentially implying that she still is Kate’s step-mother, after all.
