hello, @briarfox13!!!! I apologize for the delay and hope you had a happy harvesting with @masseffectholidaycheer. I fell in love with Deidre!! She is absolutely amazing, and it was such a treat to paint her. Thank you for sharing her with us!

“I was a twin, but they died when we were fourteen.”
“He should have survived.”  /   “It should have been me.”

For this year’s @masseffectholidaycheer I bring January Jubilation (in the form of this slightly bittersweet art piece…) to @miniature-space-hamster and her twin Shepards —Karina and Ruiz— who exist in separate timelines where the other twin died on Mindoir. I hope you like it and I did your twins justice! (and I’m so sorry to have left you waiting right till the end)

Hello@anunquenchableflame! I am your MEHC partner!

I wrote this little fic about Rani and Samara for you and I hope you enjoy it. It’s over here on AO3

Title: Reclaiming Breath
Characters: Rani Shepard, Samara
Rating: G
Summary:Making the rounds through the decks of the Normandy let Rani reclaim some semblance of her life from the SR-1. It wasn’t the same though, it couldn’t be.
Shepard visits the Starboard Lounge to speak with Samara…

Special thanks to happychica for the beta, I appreciate it!

January Jubilations to you!

Oh I LOVE it! ❤ Thank you so much, this is wonderful!

I love how you’ve captured Rani’s feelings of disconnection -from herself, from her faith, from existence-on top of that separation she feels between herself and the persona of the Commander who definitely does not have existential crises and is unfased by such a small thing as a resurrection. I particularly like the bit about parts of her still floating out of reach, it’s exactly right, her body may have been reconstructed but her self is still piecing together. It’d be so easy to just abandon her faith in the face of all that’s happened to her but this is such a wonderful exploration of why it feels so important and integral to that reconstruction that she reclaim it.

And I love your characterisation of Samara - “There is nothing in my code that forbids a jest” I think there might be an audience for Justicar standup, just the worst jokes delivered with serene conviction. Normandy open mic night when??

Samara is the perfect partner for this conversation, and I think she’s quietly pivotal to Rani’s recovery of her self and centre. I love it so much!
