I’ve just gotten back from the Azores, and I made a travel blog for my photos and art from the trip. I’ll be updating as I edit with panoramas, watercolor sketches, and other pictures, so if you’re interested, feel free to follow that. And now for something completely different! I created this boat when I was 16 and it still remains one of my favorite life experiences. I was reminded of it last night by a conversation on my personal blog, so here you go.
This is my darling, the skin-on-frame kayak I built in a 9-day-long workshop with Kiliii Yu, who is a kayak builder and teacher, professional photographer, musician, and all-round awesome human being (who took those last two photos of me with the boat). If anyone is interested I could talk about the building process, but for now I’ll just leave this here.

Wa-hoo-hoo the barred owl is very photogenic, patient, and soft to pet. Petting an owl is definitely one of the perks of scientific illustration.
