- if you were in the DN universe you can save Mello because his lifespan didn’t end he died because of the death note so if you stopped his name being written down; he’d live. HOWEVER Matt’s death wasn’t caused from the death note which means his lifespan naturally ended which means Matt can’t be saved.

I think there was a rule in the dn universe where the existence of the death note can affect people’s life spans without having their names written.
