Robert Michael Nesmith (December 30, 1942 – December 10, 2021)
So long Mike Nesmith and thanks for all the joy.
Relevant gif of the week:
I am hurt, scared, and worried for him. Yesterday I had made this comment on his post from Tuesday, but I soon deleted it because I was afraid I would be attacked or blocked or even banned from concerts. I don’t know what the truth is anymore and the sensitive little doormat I am wants to comment on his latest post that I am sorry. But what is there to be sorry about?? His safety and well being? I know it is none of my business as a fan. But this is widely known information now that something is up with Michael’s Facebook and it’s reaching a breaking point now. Someone please give me some clarity, or something I can do… I feel incredibly hopeless.
I am so sorry for intruding on Michael’s personal life like this. But I think it’s common knowledge here that we are concerned for him. I can’t just stand by while he could be getting worse and having things said for him that he himself isn’t writing or doesn’t believe. I’ve read conflicting evidence too, like someone saying they’re friends with Michael and called him about the post and he said he wrote it. But also, Bill Chadwick, from the Monkee days, left a worrying comment saying something like “please call me” with a desperate tone.
I don’t know what’s real about this situation anymore but I want to help Michael somehow and I feel like I can’t.
This is where many people are. This is the comment from BIll Chadwick, by the way, for those who haven’t seen it:
That comment is extremely telling. Bill has a long history with Nez going back to Ledbetter’s and the Troubadour in Los Angeles, and worked as Micky’s stand-in in the TV show and as a songwriter for the Monkees. If he has not been able to reach Nez, then that speaks to a larger, more insidious problem than any of us know about, and it shouldworry people.
You are not intruding, and you are not out of line. He (or whoever is making these posts) has brought his personal life into the public forum, and people have taken notice and are showing concern. Deleting comments from his Facebook and blocking people is not going to stop that, because Nez is someone a lot of people care about, and do not want to see hurt in this way.
