Miraculous LBCN - My thoughts on season 4 finale and what could come in season 5.

Don’t keep reading if you haven’t seen the season 4 finale. ;)

I’ll start with the scene where Ladybug got the miraculous stolen.
That scene was a bit forced in my opinion. Back in the finale of season 2, when Mothie de-transformed his staff disappeared immediately. But with Ladybug, her yo-yo stayed after she de-transformed?? Most of the miraculous would had been stolen by then, yeah, but maybe some could had been saved if it had disappeared right away.

Another thing i don’t fully agree with the writers is how she didn’t run and lock herself in the bathroom to de-transform the minute her yo-yo disappeared. By locking the door she didn’t risk having her identity revealed even if that had been Felix. I understand she was in shock, but still… i don’t know. As i said, it felt a bit forced, as if they were giving Gabriel the chance to steal. (Don’t get me wrong, i’m not throwing hate at Marinette.)
Su Han is gonna be furious at her and i wonder if he’s gonna tell her to step down as guardian and hand back their miraculous once they recover them?
If the writers want, she wouldn’t loose her personal memories, all her life could be safe, it could be just her memories as Ladybug the ones lost. I say this because strictly speaking Master Fu named Ladybug the guardian, not Marinette.

Let’s get to the good stuff now.
I think we’ve already seen part of what they have for us in season 5. I’m talking about Mothie’s modus operandi now that he has the powers of all those miraculous. At first i thought he was simply gonna visit Lila and hand her the Fox miraculous in exchange for her help. Same with Chloé. But then i remembered the New York special where he akumatized that character and afterwards he handed him the eagle miraculous. I think that’s what we’re gonna get.
For a moment i had doubts. I mean, when they defeat the super villain they would be winning back a miraculous, But… that’s where the horse miraculous could come in handy for Mothie. He could simply open a portal to retrieve the miraculous before either Chat Noir or Ladybug could get their hands on it.

If it goes like this, Chloé could have another chance for her redemption here. She could give the miraculous back to Ladybug before Mothie gets it. Why would she do that? That expression on her face during the last minutes of the finale. I read someone calling her a hypocrite because of that. I don’t think it was hypocrisy, but more like it dawned on her how serious things could now get. One thing is getting akumatized to get her way and another one to see a super villain crazy with power, threatening the whole city.

I don’t think Nathalie is gonna survive. And i wonder if Gabriel will feel any guilt at all. I mean, she was talking to him seconds before he dropped his phone and started his negotiation with Felix. If that hadn’t happened he would had heard her collapsing and tried to send help. Call someone on the train. At least try to do something.

The finale came and we didn’t hear any of the characters explicitly saying that either Felix or Adrien are sentimonsters. I still believe the theory is gonna be canon, but there’s a section of the fandom that will not believe it until it’s being explicitly said.
What makes me doubt is that Astruc has said nothing about it. He complained about people calling Adrien a feather, but explicitly said he wasn’t confirming anything. Why say that? There has been so many hints… Why not just say “ok, yeah, they both are”? Is there going to be something else?
The explanation that i think could make more sense is that he wants to leave his options open and decide later whether he will go ahead with it or not.
An example of this is Luka’s age. In the beginning he was older and then he was Juleka’s twin. You can read Astruc’s tweets about that here.

Speaking of Luka… i wonder if he’s gonna be involved with the reveal.
We saw how Ladybug discovered that Alya had secretly told Nino about her still being Rena. So, she should at some point find out that Luka knows her secret. What will she do if she finds out

he knows Chat Noir’s identity too? Hope Gohan, i mean, Su Han doesn’t have some thing that could wipe his memories clean.

I don’t understand why Ladybug can’t just tell Chat Noir about Chat Blanc. She knows it hurts him to be left out and isn’t it better that he is aware of something as big as that was? Is she afraid of him wanting to quit if he finds out?

I wonder if they’re gonna say Felix disappeared. That either he never returned to England or if both Amelie and him moved somewhere else. It would be dumb not to try to reach him, see if somehow they can convince him of revealing Mothie’s identity. They also should know that now it is him who has the peacock miraculous. When Mothie made his threat, all around the floating head were the symbols of all the miraculous. Including the dog one, but not the peacock one. Alya was recording. I hope she will point that out.

Finally, i just wanna say i think this 4th season has been like a damage control season for the production team.
I mean, a good part of the fandom couldn’t tolerate Adrigami nor Lukanette and on the first two episodes of the season they broke these two ships.
People complained on Marinette´s behavior calling her a stalker and they made her super busy being a guardian. And to the date i still don’t know super busy doing what? Her busy moments were when there was an attack, she had to go hand the miraculous and then retrieve them when the city was safe again. But did she have to do some special guardian’s ritual, did she have to give the miraculous some special treatment, cleaning or something? If so, none of that was shown. So the way i see it, it was just an excuse to change that part of her behavior.
There were complains about the show being faux feminist and we got Ladybug treating Chat Noir like trash the whole season. Literally.

Ladybug said to Chloé she could receive a miraculous again because her identity had been revealed. And then they didn’t waste a chance to make Chloé look as horrible as possible and make that the excuse for not receiving a miraculous again, all because, of course all of her friends would still be getting their miraculous despite Mothie knew their identities. And of course… we got the sudden appearing of a sister. Astruc has said he planned the whole story for years. Well, why wasn’t there some mention of Zoe since the beginning, so it wouldn’t feel made on the fly just to replace Chloé?

Back in season one they had been called racists due to the Kung Food episode, and this season they gave us Qilin.

I like the show. It has great concepts and it has characters that could be awesome, characters that have so much potential but that has been wasted. I like parts of the show, but i don’t like one bit how it feels like they are just stretching the story they had in the beginning instead of building it, expanding it. That part that Chat Noir said about taking back the miraculous even if it had to be done one by one… the writers could use this to extend the show for who knows how many seasons.
Also, there’s another thing: The show would end when they recover all the miraculous from the antagonists, right? But that includes the Moth one. And we know that miraculous will change hands at least once. And in Timetagger we saw Chat Noir and Ladybug as adults,… then how many more seasons are they gonna try to get approved. Astruc once aid he had material for 7 seasons, but from the reasons i just listed, i think they could try more than that. I’ve read comments from the fandom saying they wish the show will never end. Ummm… Sorry, but personally i wouldn’t like that.
