Rujunko Pugh is an African-American and Japanese artist who was born in Japan in 1970. Working across various media including printmaking, installation, paste-ups (street art) and murals, her art draws on Japanese, African and African-American found imagery. Pugh explore themes such as identity, history, culture and race as well as global movements of people, ideas and technologies.
Only a few more weekends to come see Rujunko Pugh and visit “Fruit of Our Labor” on Governors Island before it closes on July 28.
