Ran goes to visit Moca on a special sunday night, Moca’s birthday, but things have gotten unusually late…
Birthday fic! Not much more to say about it except that I basically wrote it as if it was set in 2017, hence Moca’s birthday falling on a Sunday instead of a Monday. But yeah, today is Moca’s birthday and that should be celebrated properly. Make sure to eat some bread today!
So I decided to write this in first person, which is generally not the style I go with. It made it a bit more challenging but I feel it fits the more monologue-driven narrative I wanted to achieve for Ran. I hope it was a satisfying read.
Ran and Moca practically live at eachother’s houses, going back and forth without really caring. At this point their parents don’t bat an eye. It’s not uncommon for them to stay over for a couple days on end.
Moca wears Ran’s clothes a lot, they’re around the same size, so they always fit perfectly. They have the same aesthetic mostly anyway, so no one tends to notice. Really the only way to tell if Moca is wearing her own clothes or Ran’s is Ran’s reaction to it, she’ll stare at Moca even more often than usual and seem sort of flustered for no reason. Well, no reason as far as anyone can tell.
They get matching things in their signature colours, clothes, technology, all sorts.
Technically they had their first kiss when they were kids, Ran had tripped over and cut her lip a little bit, Moca took it upon herself to kiss it better. Ran hates looking back on it now, whereas Moca constantly brings it up to tease her. Their real first kiss actually happened as a result of this teasing, Ran was getting sick of it and kissed Moca out of nowhere, trying to get her to shut up and to sort of overwrite that kiss with a new one. Moca was hardly shocked, she had been planning it all along.
Surprisingly, Ran sleeps on Moca more often than Moca sleeps on Ran. Moca tends to prefer her sleeping being undisrupted by other people, liking to just sleep on her own in her bed or, well, she’s Moca, she’ll sleep anywhere. Whereas Ran likes the feeling of Moca against her as she sleeps.
Moca always ends up getting some of Ran’s food. She looks at her with puppy dog eyes and Ran just can’t say no. Although most of the time Moca doesn’t even need to bother, it’s sort of just automatic for Ran now to leave some stuff for Moca.
