I just saw someone complaining about this again so I’ll sent this as a reminder as someone who voted them both guilty :
For one if people voted Shidou purely innocent just CAUSE of his looks, Mikoto would’ve long pass the 60% guilty bar. Most of the people who actually voted him innocent did so because he DOESN’T WANT to be forgiven.
For most people, the guilty verdict would’ve only give him what he wants which doesn’t seem like a proper punishment for him.
Meanwhile for Amane, I guarantee you that when her song dropped the innos were off the scale. The reason why the votes dropped is because on the opposite side of the spectrum, voting innocent would’ve further enhance her brainwashing.
It was already hinted before that our votes have an influence on their behavior, for instance Muu became a lot more “bitchy” after she got voted innocent while Futa became less aggressive (like it was explained according too Kotoko’s VD).
If she got innocent it would only enhance the belief that god is protecting her and that her murder was ok including all of the atrocities that her cult did too her.

Also not only that but we still have 2 more trials going around the way so it’s not like she’ll disapear after these votes
Lastly I just want to say that the Milgram team THEMSELVES say that there are no bad decisions for your votes and that voting because you simply like the character is also valid. No one “missed the point” just cause they voted differently than you did.
Plus I’d like to point that these are fictional characters. I ain’t saying that “fiction doesn’t affect reality” but there’s def a difference in how much importance and seriousness you’re willing to give for things that are real and things that are not. So like… maybe chill a little?
