@mudkipnm

This project is actually a really interesting form of colorwork knitting, called mosaic knitting. Unlike stranded colorwork where you hold two or more strands of yarn, knitting different colors on and off to create a pattern. With mosaic you only work one strand at a time, slipping the stitches that don’t get that color. For example, this pattern goes: slip 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches. This makes it really easy to knit with two colors, creating designs and texture!

Hope that makes sense

Ive been having some medical problems that kind of put posting my work on the back burner and im really sorry.

This is mosaic knitting with stockinette stitch which makes it a bit harder to show my progress. The darker yarn is 2 ply of very close golden shades, called saffron and Marrakech. Its what I call an optical yarn where its actually our eyes that mix two very close colors to get a third. I love making those yarns quite a lot.

The other yarn is 2 ply champagne. I find with mosaic knitting its best to use one ‘mixed’ with one not so the pattern doesn’t get confused.

Would any of you lovlies like to learn how to make a scarf with this pattern? I just got a tripod for my phone and we could have a knit along. You could either work with yarn you have or for just the price of the fiber and postage I’ll make yarn for you.

If you can knit garter stitch, you can knit this i promise.

Message me if this is something you would like to try while we are all stuck at home and we can work out the details.

Please spread this around so anyone who needs to see this can.

As you can see I’m always jumping an new technique to learn. This is mosaic knitting. It’s the first color work I’ve ever done…and the simplest. Still I see great potential in it.

Mosaic Owl (unblocked), also with yarn I got from @curufins-smile. (Pattern) :D

(Used straight needles to knit this and it was a pain since I’ve been using only circular needles for years now.)

A thing I made with yarn I got from @curufins-smile. My first time trying mosaic knitting and it was incredibly fun. Pattern is Chameleon Snowflake Poinsettia by Amy Marie.
