With…G1 Twice As Fancy Munchy!
Munchy was a part of the 2nd set of TAF ponies that was (in general) harder to find. Munchy herself being possibly the hardest one to get. It’s argued whether she was unpopular upon release (so not a lot of her were bought) or via some other cause…but she is both expensive and uncommon.
But what she also is, is controversial.
As you’ll notice she’s a pony…an herbivore…with meat for her symbols. Do take note that there IS a pony cow toy (Baby Leafy) so ‘burgers’ are not really the best thing to have on a pony if “all the animals are people”. It’s often argued that “Well it’s veggie-dogs and soy/bean-burgers” but……this was done in the 1980s so the answer was that didn’t really exist then much and it’s super-duper-highly-likely that they weren’t meant to be a selection of nice vegan options on her here.
The other parts of the symbol are a crinkle-cut fry dipped in ketchup and a trio of pickle slices. It gets argued about too because “well they weren’t thinking” isn’t a nice thing to say of the artists back then but it raises more questions than it answers. (There’s other symbols too, like a pony with human gloves as the symbol…they don’t have fingers so…or other unusable/human-only objects but this is the only one that ‘breaks character’ on appropriate vs inappropriate)
As a pony though, she’s pretty & unique enough.
With creamy yellow for the body and an interesting orangey-pink hair, her green eyes are a pretty contrast. Her symbols are very ‘food colored’ (of course) but the whole color scheme is very fast-food oriented. (Notice the famous restaurants are similarly colored like McD’s=red/yellow, Wendys=Red/white, BurgerKing= Brown/red/white) The symbols are interesting rather than pretty so she’s generally not on the top of anyone’s list of ‘lovely pure ponies’, but it does contribute to her being an interesting sight.
