#native alaskan

Day 6 of #mermay is a whale mermaid! (And, you know, two onlooking mermaids for scale.) She’s Native Alaskan, because of how much whales appear in the artwork and stories of so many of the native tribes of that region. I’m really pleased with how she came out!

I pitched to work on a Tales from the Well chapter for Concept Design class. Cat Mask was chosen instead, but I really liked where these designs for Snow Boy were going.

Based on Native Alaskan Tribal clothing :) with a little bit of princely fairytale clothing mixed in for good measure.
