Guess who’s going to see the No Game No Life movie tonight, with free tickets! Thanks, @minisuccessor for winning them! :D

no game no life

I’m watching this anime called No Game No Life and it has an interesting premise in that there are two gifted videogame players that can play games so well they can use mouses with both their hands and their feet at the same time, looking at four different screens while they’re at it. And this gift for games isn’t secluded to just one game, they have a broad sprectrum for understanding of all games. They’re winners no matter what.

But in the real world they are lost, they’re losers like everybody else. Because there’s 7 billion players that all move independently, no parameters, no rules, no goals. The real world isn’t a game and it has no meaning. Through a supernatural event they’re allowed to escape from the real world into games.

This made me think a lot about different shows, movies, and animes I have watched. They all have a common theme of trying to escape the reality that’s forced on us and live in a special way, where good triumphs over evil and there’s always a happily ever after.

Animes in particular often show characters that live very ordinary lives and are then transported into magical worlds or roles. But when we look at reality and the creators of these stories, where anime originates, in asia, the world is nothing like that. In fact, people in asia live under strict guidelines with very little freedom. People all over the world, in fact, must submit to the rules that are placed on them, some rules good and fair but a great deal not.

It should be obvious that nothing in any of these fantasy stories will ever happen in real life. The stories and ideas will just remain stories and ideas. Fiction will never win over nonfiction.

So that’s why it’s so fascinating that people contiue to try to create ways that will help them escape from the grey reality. It seems like an ongoing human endeavor to get to a more beautiful human experience.

Maybe one day, we will actually succeed.

(I hope your quarantine is going alright)

My experience with anime is that it helped me learn more about myself, the world around me and it’s beauty, and also what satisfies my needs depending on my mood. Color is something that as I have watched anime become essential whenever I decide to watch something. If I want to watch something beautiful or something that will make me happy I need a lot of color as well. No Game No Life: Zero was one of the most colorful and beautiful anime movies I have ever seen in my whole entire life. Not only is it visualizing appealing, but the storyline is intriguing as well. I completely fell in love with the plot and the characters and it was hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen. It has romance, action, and it makes you think about humanity and what makes us strong. I loved this movie and would watch again. If you want to be transported to a completely new world this is for you.
