I made a post about my headcanon of how nv came to be, but I don’t think I was very clear back then.

So, to clear things up a bit:

Tyrian was a dust miner, his ability to see in the dark allowed him to work in deeper levels of the caves. He always was a hard worker, however, having no goal and being in terrible work condition, he started a lot of riots or just would straight up fight other workers.

In one of those fights he did get beaten down a bit, and brought back up to the first level of the cave, where he was apprehended by other miners.  Coincidentally, in this moment research team, lead by Arthur Watts were visiting, they were there to check up on how dust reserves are doing, that’s when he saw Tyrian for the first time.

Penny project was greenlit and for Arthur it meant that he either had to continue working or try and prove his righteousness. He chose both. At first his plan was easy: fake his death, lay low for a bit and agonize James from behind the scenes. But he soon realized that he couldn’t do it alone, he understood that if he was caught or met with any apprehension, he wouldn’t be able to fight back, so the searches for a “defender” began. He needed someone willing to fight for him, someone who wouldn’t ask much questions and just do what they had to do.

Tyrian was the best choice in his opinion.

 And he wasn’t wrong.

Jacques Schnee, although distant, but still a cousin, of Arthur, was willing to sell him one of his workers, but even he knew that this one was troublesome. His explanations of how Arthur being unexperienced in the field of owninghaving servants, getting the most unhinge one is dangerous, didn’t bother Watts at all.

All Watts really did to get Tyrian to trust him is that he given him a place to sleep, provided him food, clothes, and his true identity, deleting all the misleading information out of Atlas database. That’s when Tyrian officially came to be.

He was pretty quiet at first, not understanding why he was there, baffled by sudden luxury given to him, and also thinking that it was insanity that he got there. He observed Watts a lot, learned his habits, manners, patterns of speech, everything really. As time went by, they began talking with each other, Tyrian proving himself to be a great audience, and even better person to debate with, showing his intelligence. Admittedly, Watts was flattered by how interested in his works Tyrian was.

On the background Watts did tell Tyrian about how he needs to train, even better if he actually trained like a huntsman, or in a similar fashion, never fully revealing his plan. Which did undergo some changes.

Watts met Salem first.

When this plan came into motion, Tyrian was unaware of faked death part, which led him to start his murder spree, which as we all know, put him in custody that he successfully escaped with a help of grimm.

The reunion wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. In reality, I don’t think Tyrian was even mad about it.
