#onward fanfic rec

Have gotten super into Onward recently and I’m dying for good fanfics (which are few and far in between due to Ao3′s obsession with sibling incest). I found an AMAZING fic by Gummystars the other day and my brain wouldn’t let me rest until I drew fanart of one of the tense moments towards the end of chapter one. There is no Ian Lightfoot. It’s only ever been Barley and his wonderful Mother who he would protect with his life.

So why did some scrawny kid break into their home, claiming to be his magical younger brother? It would take a special kind of crazy to buy into that story, but Barley can’t shake the daunting mantra running through his mind and maybe this Ian might have something to do with it.
