While usually it is the mamas of the ton frittering away to make a match for their children, such was not the case for a young Lord Anthony Bridgerton and Miss Theodosia Beauchamp. Their fathers, Viscount Edmund Bridgerton and Viscount Arthur Beauchamp, friends since childhood, began to ponder the future of their eldest children from their time at Oxford together. The two men had made a pact between themselves that once one of them had a son and the other a daughter, they would see the joining of their households.
