#ordeal by innocence

Through neglect, I’ve managed to amass a rather long list of upcoming things you can watch Anna Chancellor in but have not been mentioned on this tumblr.  Rectifying this now. Here goes:

Television: Celebrity Antiques Road Trip – Herself – Available Now

Anna appeared as one of the competitors in an episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip which is on BBC iPlayer at the moment. It’s basically four women in two teams driving around the English countryside in classic cars buying antiques with brief segues in local history. It’s delightful.

Audio Play: Northanger Abbey – Mrs Allen – Available Now

Audible have produced a full cast radio drama of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, with Anna in the role as Mrs Allen, the wealthy chaperone of the heroine Catherine. The cast included Ella Purnell as Catherine and Emma Thompson as Jane Austen. It’s avaliable here

Television: The Crown – Lady Rosse – 8 December 2017

It’s really hard to find any info about this but it appears Anna’s in the second series of The Crown playing Lady Anne Parsons, Countess of Rosse – Princess Margaret’s mother-in-law.

Television: Trust – Penelope Kittson – Janurary 2018

Trust is a new anthology series from Danny Boyle thematically about families and money. The first series covers the true crime story of the kidnapping and ransom of John Paul Getty III. Anna’s playing Penelope Kittson one of the (apparently many) women in a relationship with John Paul Getty (played by Donald Sutherland). The cast also includes Hillary Swank and Brendan Fraiser. It’s expected to air in the US in Janurary on FX (no dates for outside the US yet).

Film: The Happy Prince – Mrs Arbuthnott – 2018

An Oscar Wilde biopic, written, directed and starting Rupert Everett. The cast includes Colin Firth, Miranda Richardson, Colin Morgan and Joshua McGuire. It’s not clear what Anna’s role is, but worth noting Mrs Arbuthnott is the titular character in Oscar Wilde’s play A Woman of No Importance.

Film: The Revenger: An Unromantic Comedy – Carol – 2018

Romanic comedy about a guy who finds out his fiancée is plotting against him. Supposedly a subversion of the romantic comedy. Not clear who Anna’s playing at this point.

Film: Benjamin – Tessa – 2018

A film written and directed by Simon Amstell which has Colin Morgan playing a writer/director who about to premiere a feature. Again, there’s little about Anna’s role at this point. The rest of the cast includes Jessica Raine and Ellie Kendrick.

Television: Ordeal by Innocence – Rachel Argyll – Unknown

The BBC’s traditional Christmas Agatha Christie adaptation has the case of the murder of philanthropist Rachel Argyll (Anna’s character) reopened after the revelation her son found guilty for the crime (and subsequently murdered in prison) was innocent. The cast includes Bill Nighy, Luke Threadaway, Matthew Goode and Morven Christie. It was to air in the BBC’s Christmas schedule but unfortunately the cast also includes Ed Westwick and the BBC has shelved the series while multiple rape allegations against him are being investigated. It’s unclear if it will ever air.

Which not a topic I’d like to end this on, so if you’re now in need of a pleasant distraction, may I suggest Anna’s episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. As mentioned earlier, it’s delightful.
