One of the things I changed in our game was that I made her the one that killed Strahd instead of some rando guards. Vampyr’s trigger is that you need to kill someone you love and be killed violently by someone who hates you. It felt more fitting that she’d be the one to kill Strahd, to emphasize just how much this lady will absolutely never love that guy. and how he’ll keep ignoring all evidence of that and pursue her reincarnations anyway because he’s a shithead.

So I got a number of questions in the past about my job, and what the work kind of entails. I learned from a coworker that I can actually get approval to release some of the work I’ve done on TS4. I’ll be doing that from now on so you guys can see my stuff, especially since it’s pretty vastly different from what I draw for fun.

This are the final concepts that made it in for the Industrial Loft kit, the Blooming Rooms kit, and the My Wedding Stories GP. One of the fun things about working on this game is it’s the only job I’ve had in the games industry where I get to study more current real-life trends and constructions. I got into houseplants as a hobby specifically because of my research on the houseplants kit, for example!

about three years ago i was working on a little story called rouge test and did twosmall comics of the kind of prologue. it was about a cloned supersoldier and a fox lady trying to survive on a world full of bandits trying to murder them (inspired by a game of rimworld).

my mom up and killed herself around this point so like many things in life I wound up never continuing it, but it’d be neat to go back to one day. it’s also fun seeing just how much my art has changed.

A number of things happened in the past two sessions that required me to update character portraits/tokens, so that’s what I’ve been working on all week. I’ll probably do a greater summary post (because folks seem to like those) separately, but in short:

- A sphinx reverted ¾ party members back into teenagers, and nobody has the greater restoration to fix it. So now they’re all anime protagonists.

- Rahadin got his eyes burned out by acid from an ooze, and nobody has the heal or regeneration to fix it. So now he’s blind.

The only character who didn’t change is Arialoth (the pink tiefling) but I didn’t want her to feel left out, so I gave her an updated portrait anyway. :)

Hello! I’m not dead, work just kicked my ass a teensy bit. But things are slowing down now, thankfully, so now I have more time/creative energy. 

The party has fully entered twilight woods, nearly died, traumatized Rahadin, and fought a giant tree. The area is basically one gigantic hex crawl/exploration area and the party is currently loving it (although we may be losing a member soon :’D). It’s involved a lot of design on my end, but honestly it gives me old Fallout game vibes with its exploration and I’ve been enjoying running it. I gotta plan a dungeon in a ruined university tonight/tomorrow.

Anyway, I wanted to design this NPC because while I had a vision in my head for him I hadn’t fully imagined it. He’s a former dusk elf advisor for the three kings, who gave up the arcane and has been surviving in the ruined capital as a druid for hundreds of years by himself. He’s… lost it a little bit, but he will be one of their few friendly NPCs in the post apocalyptic fey spooky haunted forest that is Twilight Woods. His name is Kjosev.

I’ve been pretty busy with work/D&D, because the party’s about to head into Twilight Woods. I’d like to draw some of the bigger locations for them, even if they’re a bit rougher.

Anyway, top image is the River of the Dead, where the Last King has been directing cadaver collectors to dump bodies for Absolutely No Nefarious Purpose at all. Bone worms help move the corpses along, giving it the appearance of it almost flowing like a river.

Bottom is the final design of the Last King. I wasn’t happy with the previous one so I went back to it. I like this design a lot more.

(for newer folks: the Last King is a weird fey lich that ate his lovers after being trapped underground with them. He is powered by hunger, magic, and loathing. He will likely be the final boss of this arc of the campaign, with a tarrasque he summoned).
