Day 226 - Pindaiba / Duguetia lanceolata St. Hill
Tasty fruit with little flesh. Hence the expression “Estar na pindaiba” which indicates that a person is “broke, down on his luck and has no alternatives but to eat pindaibas though he knows they are not filling”.
Unfortunately this species found in the forests of the state of Sao Paulo is rapidly disappearing together with the forests as progress for housing developments and other land clearing projects are under way.
