With…G3 Pony First Version Toola Roola!
This is an interesting one, first off because people will see and say ‘that’s not toola roola’. But why? Because this is how she ORIGINALLY looked/how the character was originally designed. They then took her name and gave it to a completely different looking pony much later in the line, and made that one a part of the ‘core 7 / ‘bore 7′ characters and proceeded to re-release it multiple times in the hopes of them catching on. (It did not, and the line ended*) So, there’s 2 very different ponies with the same name, on the same line from the same era. Not great planning.
And it’s not like ‘toola roola’ is the best name on earth? It’s a nonsense word or a song lyric type thing like “Sha-la-la-la” where they’re just doing syllables to go with the music and it’s not a word for anything. There was no real reason to re-use it later on.
But why else is the pony interesting?
Her colors are very “g3″ of course involving pink and white and the shimmery skin, so she’s quite representative of the early era of G3 ‘cool-colored’ ponies. (Sweetberry & etc follow this as well) However, she’s the only one on the whole of G3 with an actual Celtic Symbol on there. That’s a type of ‘knot’, similar to the Triskelion, which is sometimes a symbol for eternal life. (It has no hearts on the original Celtic symbol, those are just for her symbol) Buddhism also has a similar item. Was someone doodling, or did they deliberately add a Celtic knot to pony? Either way, it’s a fun bit of trivia and makes this one more collectible.
Certainly go collect this one if you like her look, the name mix-up & the interesting symbol are going to contribute to her being uncommon in the future most likely so get her while she is cheap now in 2022.
*The “Bore 7″, in which, Hasbro tried to take g3 which was based on ‘grab tons of characters just like pokemon!’ and turn it into ‘there are only 7 pokemon that is enough for you just buy the same 7 over and over again’.
