Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld teamed up with Brazilian footwear brand Melissa, and will be designing capsule collections for the company over the next four seasons. The collection [pictured above] includes four different styles for Fall/Winter 2013. One being a pump with an ice-cream cone heel. Karl has said that “plastic is a part of modern dressing”, and he is very excited to be working with the company.

Melissa is known for it’s stylish plastic and jelly shoes, so I was itching to see what Lagerfeld would design for the company. I was not disappointed with what I saw. I mean, a plastic ice-cream cone heel? Very clever Karl. These “kollections” [as Karl says] are going to be hard to beat.

On top of designing four different shoes for the plastic shoe company, Karl also directed and shot a 30-page spread in the Brazilian label’s magazine [yes, Melissa has it’s own magazine] with model of the moment, Cara Delevigne. The spread in Melissa’s ‘Plastic Dreams’ magazine is to die for. With vibrant green and pink backgrounds, it’s hard to take your eyes off of the shoes and Cara.

At last night’s launch for the collection in New York, Karl told reporters he wants to imagine the shoes in a funny way, and that because of “her freedom and wildness”…“there is no better girl for this kind of photos than Cara”. Good job on choosing Cara for this shoot though Karl, she may only be 20 years old, but you would never even begin to guess that.

I can’t wait to see the next three capsule collections. I’m sure they are just going to be getting better and better. xo
