After trying DQB for Smartphones for a couple hours I can say it is the definitive edition of DQB1. It has a LOT of fantastic quality of life additions and changes. Some of them are straight out of DQB2.
Some of the changes i’ve seen:
- Includes all the languges the game has ever release in, in one whole package. It also includes two new languages (Brazilian portuguese and Latin America Spanish)
- Buildnoculars-like feature right from the start.
- You automatically open doors when you walk near them. If you walk into terrain that is one block higher than your current spot, you automatically walk up.
- You can run (like in DQB2). And you do not get tired!
- Weapon degradation seems gone.
- Hammer Bash from DQB2 is available.
- You can check which monsters drop monster materials from the recipe list.
- More items. You can hold twice the items, chests are also larger, and each individual slot can now hold 999 items. (like DQB2).
- There’s an UNDO BUTTON!!!
- Instant access to the bag/colossal coffer by swipping up.
- Remade menus (they have Western DQ8 PS2 vibes…)
The only thing I noticed being missing is the option to look up and down but you can always use the buildnocular-like feature.
Out of the new DLC items and recipes I would only recommend the Magic Carpet. You can fly with it! Getting closer to having a creative mode in these games.
Overall, great port. 10/10; will recommend over any other version.
I noticed some more QoL since making the post:
- Autosave triggerd whenever you sleep or use chimaera wings.
- Theres a “recently used” items menu.
- The color globes now have a ray of light coming out of them.
Only available in Terra Incognita, the DLC is:
- Magic Carpet: allows you to fly.
- Pixel Ring: triples the amount of Pixel Blocks obtained with the sabrecub mount.
- Astronomy set: You can make the Solar System.
- Boss Model Set: you can craft statues of the bosses of the game.
What the hell this is rad af
