We actually have a date for this one, yay! A directory of various queer/erotic and related venues/nightclubs/bars in Berlin in 1931. If I recall correctly, I think there are one or two that aren’t mentioned here that are mentioned in Moreck’s Führer durch das lasterhafte Berlin, but other than that this was suuuuper useful when translating that text. Following this there’s a breakdown of different aspects of all the venues.

Tbh one day I’d love to go to Berlin and see if I can find the streets all these venues were on, since there’s a map. Would probably take a lot of research though.

In light of me just having had my graduation ceremony for my MA (for which the dissertation I wrote was about Curt Moreck’s guide to Berlin’s erotic/queer nightclubs/dens of depravity, I’m gonna post some stuff about/related to it. Tagging @queerautism and @historical-bucket First up is this art of a trans lady absolutely feeling herself:

(I’m fairly sure I got this from Voluptuous Panic by Mel Gordon, however I saved it two years ago and I just had a look through the book and couldn’t find it). According to the doc I saved it on, it’s “Expressive drawing by Voo-Doo, a Lady dancer”. Again, not sure of the date but presumably sometime in 1920s/1930s.
