the role of the person in the passenger seat is not only navigator but secretary as well. you have to type up the drivers messages to random ladies on facebook about cbd cream & google whether that billy joel song was the theme song for that show or not

you also have to provide a henchmans disdainful scowl at whoever the driver is flipping off in the target parking lot

other assorted roles may include

  • retrieval team for objects in the backseat
  • custodian of the parking garage tickets
  • “All clear my way”
  • en-route dining concierge
  • announcing “Horses!” when there are horses

writers will really have a doc titled ‘fic planning’ and then it’s just blank

writers will say “i’m going to write!” and then do something else with the doc open in the background

writers will literally put out the most heart-wrenching and devastating piece of fiction that’s a million times better than the source and go haha hope you liked :)

writers will have a life changing event happen to them (married, natural disaster, accident etc etc) and then still manage to put out an incredible fic and go ‘sorry this was 0.394838373 seconds late guys :(‘

writers will go ‘love writing!’ and then don’t write for 10 years

anyway i love writing and i love writers

What a callout

May I add

Two writers will get together, talk for several hours about their wips, make themselves very emotional

And then open a blank document and write down none of it

the horror genre of what if it was night and there was a man outside. nothing scares me more

moonlit-sunflower-books:

i think the most exciting thing about writing is that you never actually know what’s going to happen next. even when you plot things, there are always plot twists you didn’t see coming and lines of dialogue you didn’t expect and you do genius things accidentally and it’s like no matter how much you write, you never run out of ideas.

suzanne collins killing prim after everything katniss did to save her………. THATS how you write a story about the brutality and futility of war ma'am thats what we call a compelling and fucked up narrative yessums thats storytelling babes!!!!

Tumblr user @books—and-cleverness adds a quote from an interview with the author of the book:

« That was one of the first questions I asked her when we sat down: ‘Did you always know that [Prim] was going to die?’ And she said, ‘Oh yeah, of course, that’s the whole point.’ » (x)

i love tragedy i love circular narratives i love ppl who cannot escape their fate & characters that have been dead since the beginning

the worst fictional deaths are actually the ones you see coming, where there is enough foreshadowing that you have time to hope, against all odds, that the character will survive, even as you realise that there’s no way out this time, they’re not going to make it, this was always how it was going to end.

seeing certain mutuals on the dash like thank god you’re here. i missed you.

actually i love growing older and learning how i work as a person like realizing what kinds of fabrics feel best on my skin or what brand of yogurt i like best or how I want to be touched. watching myself change, enjoying brussel sprouts when I used to hate them as a child, understanding why I got angry in that one conversation 10 years ago… there are so many mysteries inside me that i have yet to unravel and there will always be more and sometimes i think maybe its all worth it

btw being excessively nonconfrontational is NOT a positive trait. it does not mean u are “too nice” or just too kind to hurt people, it means u have a problem communicating and you need to work on it.

There are people in the notes saying that the alternative reason is that they’re doing it because of trauma and i gotta say that

1) same. I did have this same problem and reason for doing it.

2) this is not actually an alternate reason. You guys also have a problem communicating and while you can trace exactly WHY you have trouble communicating that doesn’t mean it’s okay to treat everyone like they’re potentially your former abuser and that you DO still need to work on this.

‘This behavior comes from trauma’ and ‘This behavior is harmful to you, to others and to your relationships with others’ are two truths that can co-exist, and that do co-exist quite frequently.
