Ladies, Gaydies, And Theydies We’re Voting By Mail.

Election Day is November 3rd and Trump wants to make it harder to vote by mail even though we’re in a raging pandemic and the CDC is recommending that all voting possible be done by mail. If you live in one of the 34 states that allows you to vote by mail without an excuse, one of the 7 that will allow you to use the pandemic as an excuse (NY and CT are working to make COVID a listed excuse), or just want to check/update your voter registration, the people at Vote Save America have created a site to request your ballot, register to vote, and get involved in the election in other meaningful and impactful ways even during the pandemic.

request your ballot now

The USPS is already saying that they are expecting a record number of people to vote by mail and due to lack of funding they probably won’t be able to guarantee anything sooner than a 2 week ballot turn around. We all need to request our ballots now so there’s enough time to receive and return them well before November 3rd.

If voting didn’t work, Republicans wouldn’t spend so much time and money making sure people don’t vote.

THINK OF OCTOBER 3RD AS ELECTION DAY THIS YEAR

Oh thank you, I was looking for something like this!

2 more thoughts:

1) Don’t count on the ballot getting *to* you before October 3rd!  It’s more likely to arrive mid-October.  Usually I spend some time doing research on the local measures, but I think this year I’ll prioritize getting the thing back in the mail ASAP.

2) My state also allows me to drop off my vote-by-mail ballot to a polling location on Election Day.  Check if that’s true for your state, as either a good back-up plan or if you’re worried about USPS delays invalidating your ballot.

Join us Tuesday, October 4 at 7pm for a film screening of @equalmeansequalmovie, which looks at how women are treated in the United States today, and presents a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment. The film argues that outdated and discriminatory attitudes inform and influence issues such as workplace harassment, domestic violence, foster care, healthcare, the judicial system, and the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women.

Following the film screening will be a discussion with Kamala Lopez, Director, Equal Means Equal, Eleanor Smeal, President and a Co-founder of the Feminist Majority Foundation; Bettina Hager, DC Director of the ERA Coalition and Fund for Women’s Equality; and Bridget Brown, Executive Director, National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
