A whooooooole lot of evangelical places should get shut down

For those who don’t know what this means (like I didn’t), a church is a 501c3 organization: a tax exempt entity. In order for it to stay that way they may not get involved in legislature- including endorsing a political candidate. So if you witness someone doing this, you can report them to the IRS using form 13909. (If you’re in the US)

Ok, but remember that this is double-edged. There are plenty of progressive religious organizations that attend protests & rallies together. People in the comments are justly pointing out that as long as a religious institution or leader isn’t explicitly endorsing a particular candidate or telling people to vote a particular way, their 501©(3) status isn’t endangered. And also I have definitely heard progressive religious leaders from a variety of religions speak out against Trump & others by name, & encourage voting and/or other forms of support for progressive candidates.

POC religious leaders are often particularly at the forefront in matters of civil rights and economic and social justice.

The WASP far right doesn’t have a monopoly on religious people in politics.
