“I guess…I guess it started not long after we moved here… I was bored and was hanging out in the Mall when that Lady came up to me. I thought she was gonna chew me out like everyone else did – ‘cause I was totally Goth then. You know. I don’t even think I owned anything that wasn’t black…
Anyhow. she just…well, she just smiled at me and gave me my first Pearl bracelet. She said it would suit me and that I would understand. I was gonna tell her to Fu..uh go away, but somehow the Pearl bracelet ended up on my wrist. Don’t really remember how.
And it was like…I dunno…like some sort of fog lifted. Like for the first time I could see, and everything was sunny and warm. And nice. And I decided right then and there that I needed to make a change.
So I did.
Now I always dress like a proper young Lady should. And I’m always volunteering: helping out in the community. Everyone is so proud of me. And I feel so happy. Happier than I’ve ever been.
And I was even given a second Pearl bracelet…”

“Go Stepford!!”
She danced. She chanted. She cheered. Cheered for the Sports Team.
She felt, to tell the truth. a bit ridiculous doing it. Wearing that pink leotard and little pink tutu. And with that silly pink bow in her hair.
Here she is an adult. a grown woman. Prancing around in front of everyone (it seemed like the whole town was there) dressed…
like that.
But there she was, a big smile plastered on her face as she cheered the team on.
Because…
Because it was expected of her.
She wore the outfit because that was the outfit she was given.
And she did not want to disappoint.
She COULD not disappoint.
It was hard to explain. She didn’t really understand or believe it herself but she felt…
Like it was something she needed to do.
To fit in.
To Belong.
And if she felt humiliated wearing that silly Pink outfit in front of everybody…well…it was, as if she deserved it somehow. Because it shows she understands.

She left the salon after getting her makeover.
She knew that things would change for her after the makeover.
She knew that there would be changes, but she did not know what changes would be made.
She loved all of the pampering and fussing over her new look.
She loved her boyfriend for getting her this makeover.
She was repeating her new mantra as she left the salon.

how did she end up in the chair
teasing fingers in her hair?
she really should be on her way
she did not plan to spend the day
but here she sits in the Salon
as her mind is slowly gone
the Stylist knows just what to do
twirling swirling something new
as her mind swirls right along
getting foggy, it won’t last long
soon she will be fully under
and her thoughts will be in slumber
and new thoughts will replace the old
she will obey; do as she’s told
she will serve, she will convert
all will learn what she has learnt
obey the Bun, obey the Beehive
your hair will be up, spread far and wide
all will be happy, Feminine and demure
all will serve, and to be sure
all will be proper, all will be proud
in Stepford town and far beyond
visit the Salon and as you sink
your hair will swirl and you will think
only pleasant thoughts and proper too
to obey and serve your hair you’ll do
